8/11 Why do soldiers get medals for being captured by the enemy? Shouldn't
medals be restricted to good performance?
\_ I know, it's stupid. Soldiers also get metal for being killed
           by their own stupidity.
\_ Although it's very frequently "without regard to their own
safety", it more usually is "while attempting to flank an enemy
position" or the like instead of "drove his jeep in reverse
              into an allied minefield"
\_ we should really give soldiers a break

9/6 Haven't heard Iraq news lately. Does that mean we're defeating
        Al Qaeda?
\_ My theory, seriously, is that the Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq are
busy bombing the shit out of each other in shops and mosques,
and only occasionally harming US soldiers that happen to be in the
way, so Iraq hasn't been in the news so much.

2/5 How about this instead of the BS below:
I found out my school district spends $16K per child and it's
ranked in the bottom 1/3 in the State. Please explain why the
State deserves more of my dollars. A family of four is not getting
their $32K worth. In fact, many people in my city put their kids
in private school even though the government is spending $16K/kid.
