finnman69 Kerry just 'threw' out the opening pitch at the Boston-Yankees game. Just saw Kerry pitch a really weak opening pitch, well short of the plate, bouncing under the catcher.
View Replies To: NYCVirago The Times already listed him on Friday as going to the game. I'm telling you, the whole last-minute diversion thing was done for dramatic effect. Why should he care about the little people in Florida, when he can get face time on ESPN all evening?
Rivalry Remains Same, but Yanks Are Different from Friday, July 23, 2004: "The pitching matchups in Boston are Jon Lieber (7-6) against Curt Schilling (12-4) tonight, Tanyon Sturtze (3-2) against Bronson Arroyo (3-7) tomorrow afternoon, and Jos Contreras (8-3) against Derek Lowe (8-9) on Sunday night, when the Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, who sometimes wears a Red Sox cap on the campaign trail, will be on display for the New England vote."
That is the most hysterical moment of his campaign so far. To think, when Kerry seemed detined to win the nomination I experienced a little grief that the entertainment value of Dean would be lost. he screams elitist even in the way he prances on a ball field. To all those Dems in Cali still unable to understand what a "girlie man" is, you have one in living color here. Given how Kerry treats his secret service agents when he screws up, we have to keep tabs on what happened to this brave young man.

Kerry Diverts His Plane to See Red Sox-Yanks Game BOSTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry diverted his campaign plane on Sunday to make a surprise visit to Boston for the Yankees-Red Sox baseball game. "This plane is diverted," he told reporters aboard his chartered Boeing 757 shortly after it left Columbus, Ohio, ostensibly for Titusville, Florida. "It's a wonderful rivalry and it's a great event," Kerry said. "I love the Red Sox, the idea of missing a Yankees-Red Sox series right before convention week was not acceptable." The Massachusetts senator, who on Thursday will formally accept at the Democratic convention his party's nomination as President Bush's opponent, was attending the 8:05 pm EDT game at storied Fenway Park and then resuming his original schedule. The rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is among the most heated in US professional sports. He neglected to mention that it would make a wonderful photo op.

As soon as I heard that the media spun this as Kerry's surprise appearance, I hunted for and found the Times article to post, so that people would know it was a fraud. I even sent the link to Drudge with an explanation, to no avail.

The first time my husband went to Nantucket to visit his sister, he came back and told me that he was never going to buy another pair of khakis, or docksider shoes. He said it was like a uniform there, with a button down collar blue shirt, with the sleeves rolled up. On a warm day (which wasn't often)he said that they wore khaki shorts.
View Replies To: finnman69 At Fenway Park, supporters distributed signs reading, "Sox Fans for Kerry." I didn't see an explanation of Fenway's signs and banners rule on the Red Sox website. I know that some ballparks prohibit political banners at games.
View Replies To: Ichneumon And Kerry's no longer sitting next to his wife, he has moved to the row behind her. Did you ever hear somebody yak so much at a game as Kerry did?
Btw boys and girls, his ass isn't fat, he's wearing body armor below the waist. Compare his bizarre looking Dockers (yeah like he'd wear Dockers), and his cute little bike shorts. The Dems are really going to give this buffoon the nomination?
Pundits will look back to this photo-op just as they did after the Bush-Dukakis race. Pray for the president and work for his redefeat as our sorry SoreLosermen freinds put it.
View Replies To: finnman69 You know, I finally found an issue on which Senator Ketchup and I agree -- the designated hitter. Seantor Ketchup called for its abolition, a position I have been advocating for 30 years. Of course, that probably means that he will be for the DH next week, or was for it last week.
View Replies To: Floratina I agree, there would have been boos for W too. I think they were booing the incredible hassle the DNC has created for them as locals this week.
after posing on ice skates, skis, snowboards, wind surfing, roller blading, throwing a football, riding a very expensive racing bicycle appropriately attired (per Lance Armstrong), only to blow the opening pitch at a baseball game with his best girlie boy effort ... Don't forget the motorcycle ride onto the set of the Tonight Show. Damn, he must be cool, edgy and "down with the people", too.
View Replies To: JRios1968 Only Euroweenie, Commie, Girly-men throw from the Grass! To be fair, W owned a baseball team, Yaaaaawn got a Purple Heart from the last Pineapple he threw. Note to self: when throwing a grenade make sure to be able to throw more than 20'.
View Replies To: All I'm just reading my Yankee email fan list, and the fans are not happy over the game's coverage. Even nonpolitical people are puking over ESPN's turning a big game into a Kerry infomercial.
If I'm coaching a team and a kid shows me that pitch, I'm checking the minimum play rule and expecting grief from his dad! My Dad was one of the coaches, and the guy accross the street was the other. I did get to play on local broadcast TV for an inning though.
