7/20 I want to spend money on something cool. Any suggestions? Probably not
willing to spend more than about $2k.
\_ take a pilot class, it is really an eye opener
\_ Go on a trip. Take a helicopter tour over Kawaii. Go visit the
Lourve. (sp?) Or St. Peter's Basilica. You'll remember it
forever: it's worth more than some $2k hunk of junk. --PeterM
\_ Bah. You mill around with the other tourist cattle looking at
pictures of dead white people. Or get sunburned wandering in some
rainy island. Just upgrade your PC and preorder Doom 3!
\_ give me to me, i'll spend it for you and send you a cool
           cool greeting card.
\_ You need someone to give you to yourself?
        \_ GFE
\_ My girlfriend will give you about 45 minutes for $2k.
           You won't regret it!
           \_ Does she do anal???
              \_ Sure, yermom is a total ho-bag.
\_ How is it dating a whore?
           \_ Sky? Is that you?
\_ How much does your girlfriend charge YOU?
        \_ Half-a-pound of weed
           \_ Sweet!
\_ Used motorcycle and enough gear to keep from getting killed.
        \_ Some ideas:
           - Canon 10D w/ 28-135 USM II IS lens
           - 23" lcd w/ X800XT or nv6800UDDL

\_ Buy and share a RealDoll(tm) with someone.
\_ Buy a RealDoll(tm) with someone else, and share her.
\_ dear op, please consider alternatives to material goods.
Sure you can buy a cool toy or something, but what about
intagible things that'll actually last you a lifetime? Have
you considered using that money on education (chef/pastry
class, 1/3 of a pilot's license, horseback riding,
Princeton Review/MBA, etc)? You can buy cool toys and
they'll be fun for a while, but please consider the
intangible things that lasts you a lifetime.
\_ sometimes those are the same thing, like getting a boat
that you then actually use all the time.
\_ It is weird to agree with someone entirely and still think
they are being a complete pansy. Or, for the majority with
              south park clue... -phuqm
\_ Dude, that is so gay. -Stan
               \_ Education makes you gay.

"The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and
blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails.
You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at
night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only
love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or
know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only
one thing for it then -- to learn. Learn why the world wags and what
wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust,
never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never
dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a
lot of things there are to learn."

3/12 I'm thinking about buying one of the new iPod Shuffles.
Does anybody have a sense whether the headphone-iPod connection
is designed well? It looks potentially fragile in the
pictures. I've had a lot of bad experiences with Apple
power cords which fall apart at the junction points.

1/20 I downloaded a song from iTunes and used it as a soundtrack
in a movie I created in iMovie. But now youtube won't let me
use the audio in the movie, as it's licensed. What is the easiest
way to get around this, on a mac? Is there a way to directly record
this song into an mp3, as I'm playing it on this machine? Thanks.

\_ Really? I know they say you can't put more than 8GB in the 13"

5/31 I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I do play games sometimes. Is the
80G Sony PS3 sufficient for say, 2-3 years? I'll use it 80% for
BlueRay movies and 15% game (I play 3-4 games a year max), and
possibly 5% something else. I'm just trying to figure out how
long a 80G will last based on my usage, and whether I can get
away with a 40G version, or if the 160G is a must have or not. Thanks.

5/22 Are LED monitors much better than LCD monitors?
\_ OLED is still too new to know. They're direct emitters, so don't
have a backlight, and can turn completely off, hence better black.
The early news was that blue pixels burn out relatively quickly.

12/15 I have a few 100G and 200G drives that I want to dump. Do people
actually buy used legacy HD on eBay?
\_ Yup they do -- researchers doing articles on the lack of safety
of data on computers often go to eBay, buy used hard drives,
and mine all sorts of goodies from the not, or poorly, wiped
           drives.

The cutting edge just got sharper with Sony's new KD-34XBR960 34" Super Fine Pitch(TM) XBR Television. Featuring a 16:9 Super Fine Pitch(TM) CRT, Hi-Scan 1080i(TM) display, and Digital REality Creation(TM) MultiFunction V1 circuitry, the KD-34XBR960 brings you a true cinema aspect ratio picture that is brighter, sharper and more vivid than ever before. The KD-34XBR960 also gives you the other high-end features you would expect from a Sony XBR television, such as Cinemotion(TM) Reverse 3-2 Pulldown technology, MID X Multi Image Driver circuitry, and Twin-View(TM) two tuner Picture-In-Picture. You can even view your family photos onscreen and listen to MP3 audio with the built-in Enhanced Memory Stick Media slot. Super Fine Pitch(TM) CRT provides better image detail with high definition sources. The Aperture Grill was improved by making the vertical slits a finer pitch that increases the number of slits by up to 65% (16x9 base). Also improved were the High Precision Deflection Yoke, Fine Focus Electron Gun and the inclusion of higher intensity Luminescent Phosphors. The result is a more detailed image for both moving and still images, higher resolution picture quality, and better edge detail. Digital Reality Creation(TM) MultiFunction V1 Circuitry raises standard definition signals to HD quality via a digital bit mapping process, which is user adjustable. A display of clear, stable images from any video source.

Experience visuals like no other with the KV-36HS420 36-inch WEGA television from Sony. Featuring a FD Trinitron picture tube, a Hi-Scan 1080i(TM) display, and DRC(TM) Digtial Reality Creation(TM) Multi-function, images are strikingly clear and incredibly vivid. The KV-36HS420 also includes CineMotion(TM) Reverse 3-2 Pulldown for improved motion fluidity and detail. Other features include DRC(TM) Digital Reality Creation(TM) multifunction circuitry, a high voltage regulator, and TruSurround SRS audio. DRC(TM) Digtial Reality Creation(TM) Multi-function analyzes a 480i NTSC image and creates a digital bit mapped pattern in real time. The original NTSC signal is mapped in real time, replaced with an HD representative and then discarded. Because DRC(TM) processes video signals in real time, it creates an image with 4X the density of the original signal. Resolution is increased both vertically and horizontally. CineMotion(TM) Reverse 3-2 Pulldown improves the display of video programs originally shot on 24 frames per second film preserving the integrity of the original film frames for more fluid motion and more fine detail.
