6/19 MacHelp: I have a G5 with an internal modem. I want to be able to
listen to audio from my phone line on my computer. How do I do this?
        TIA. --erikred
\_ Go to Help->Mac Help and type "modem sound" into the question
           box.
\_ Not exactly what I was looking for, but a step in the right
              direction. Thanks. --erikred
\_ don't have a mac, so I don't know how it works, but if the modem
itself has a speaker, or a line to your sound, lookup the hayes
command set... If I remember correctly, you'll want ATM1 and ATL4
you can stick that into the modem init string (M1L4), or set it
once, and then write it to its settings with at&w

11/9 What do you do when the OSX disk utility (booted from CD) fails
to repair your primary startup disk and gives you the error:

from the Macintosh HD. Any recommendations for data recovery?

7/1 Need recommendations on a graphics cards for new G5 PowerMacs. Ideally,
the video card would support 3+ monitors, and be able to support one

6/27 For anyone who's owned a G5 running OS X (10.3 or 10.4), how often do
you need to reboot if it's being used as a workstation?
\_ Occasionally you will run into the Windows NT syndrome of the system
needing a reboot for a system software patch - I'd say about once
every couple of months on a stable release, and once or twice a
month on a new one. Other than that, I have never seen a piece of

6/24 Has anyone else had experience with FedEx's relatively new "Ground"

it was supposed to arrive. So far FedEx Ground seems to have no idea

6/22 When I burn an iso image using the "Disk Utility" in OS X (Tiger)
and I then use readcd on a linux box to verify the md5sum of the
burned cd, the md5sum of the CD doesn't match the md5sum of the
origional iso file. Is OS X modifying the iso image before it
burns it or something? Seems strange.

6/16 What the minimum you can get away with paying for cable modem,
in the South Bay? Slowest available speed should be ok.
Everythings seems to go to +$40/mo after teaser rates end.
I need something faster than 56k modem but nothing really fast.
Wondering if possible to keep under $20, since I'm out of town

5/23 I have DSL through AT&T. The service was originally established
through PacBell, transitioned to SBC, and now AT&T. I still have
my original plan and never converted to a SBC Yahoo! (now AT&T
Yahoo!) account. I noticed the price will be a lot cheaper if I
do. Are there any drawbacks? I thought someone mentioned some
negatives about the Yahoo! tie-in once upon a time.

2/18 My DSL modem's ip address is 192.168.0.1, my internal network
behind my router is 10.0.0.x. Is there a way I can configure
the router so I can access the DSL modem from my 10.0.0.x
network directly without re-wiring? Static routes? I tried it
but no much luck. I also tried changing my internal network to
192.168.0.x, but still does not work. Thanks.
