2012/4/26-6/4 [Computer/Networking] UID:54371 Activity:nil | 4/26 I see that soda has an ipv6 address but ipv6 traffic from this box
doesn't actually work (ping6 <DEAD>ipv6.google.com<DEAD>, ping6 http://www.v6.facebook.com
Is this expected to work?
\_ Soda doesn't have a real IPv6 address. The IPv6 addresses you see
in ifconfig are just link-local addresses; any IPv6-capable machine
will autogenerate these, whether or not it's connected to an IPv6

widely adopted than Win 2k (5.0). Now it looks like Win 7 (6.1) is
going to be more widely adopted than Vista (6.0). Is this a trend on
Microsoft x.0 versions being bad?
\_ duh.

\_ currently has an unpatched remote code execution vulnerability,
don't upgrade yet. -tom
\_ Ooh, glad that I asked. Thanks!
\_ 3.5.1 just released fixes it, supposedly. Might be worth
waiting a few days to see how it shakes out. -tom

fucked up? They installed a 'software upgrade' what software?
They 'switched to a backup system' but that failed. Who is their
primary IT consultant?
\_ I bet BART is running a crazy ass minicomputer or mainframe

2005/6/27-28 [Computer/SW/OS/OsX] UID:38329 Activity:kinda low | 6/27 For anyone who's owned a G5 running OS X (10.3 or 10.4), how often do
you need to reboot if it's being used as a workstation?
\_ Occasionally you will run into the Windows NT syndrome of the system
needing a reboot for a system software patch - I'd say about once
every couple of months on a stable release, and once or twice a
month on a new one. Other than that, I have never seen a piece of

copies of winXP, preferable with SP2 ? Also, how much
do extra terminal licenses cost? tnx.
\_ OEM licenses are cheaper but you can't move them to a different
machine once you activate it. (OEM licenses are what you get when
you buy a new Dell, etc.)

My Mac laptop stays connected all of the time, while my PCs (one

connections. If I reset the card the connection comes back up
instantly. Signal strength is good. I have gone through 2 routers
