6/18 [reposted] What is the best software to use for making large posters?
I have found that Illustrator goes crazy when you have too large a file
with too many bitmaps imported, and obviously powerpoint kind of sucks.
It's been suggested that i use latex, but that seems like a silly way
to do graphical layout. i don't object to buying expensive software
(i won't be paying for it) but I want to know what the *right*
        software is.
\_ talk to someone at Kinko's. They'd know.

3/17 Is there a way to compare differences between two substantially
similar Excel and/or Powerpoint documents other than going through
        them manually?
\_ In Excel 2003, there is a "Compare and Merge Workbooks..." option
under the Tools menu. (But for some reason it is greyed out in my
Excel 2003.) In PowerPoint 2003 there is "Compare and Merge

5/13 Someone please give us a 411 on Windows Vista? Is activation
tougher than WinXP sp2? Is it impossible to get around now forcing
you to pay for upgrades? Let me just say that I don't like Windows
OS. I don't mind using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint,
and they actually make decent games. However, for over a decade
I've been sucked into using Windows3.0/95/98/2K/XP because

4/5 There's no discussion on Apple being able to run MS Windows??
\_ I'm honestly not sure if it's a good idea or not. Now when wonky
incompatibilities come up, (Such as MS powerpoint conflicts between
Mac and XP) Mac users may be expected to fix it themselves. Which
leads to greater hassle, which leads to more windows use, etc.

1/7 I have an .eps file generated from Illustrator that is all vector
graphics, and it's about 300k. I need to get it to be as small as
possible to upload it to an archive where they're anal about image
file size. What can I do to shrink the file besides zipping? I already
tried zipping, and it's still bigger than the 50 k they want for .gz

11/28 Recommendation for a good business card printing site. There are

11/27 I have an annoying ass problem with MS Powerpoint in OS X, where I
can make and save any changes I want, except font changes. If I
change the font, save the document, close powerpoint, and then
open the document again, the font is still the old font. WTF?!
        Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

11/15 What's a good freeware tool to draw network diagrams with? I used
to use Visio years ago. I just need to do this once, so I don't
want to buy a package. I have Powerpoint. Can it do it? Xfig is
a little primitive? Anything else? Can be UNIX, Mac, or Windows-based.
\_ OpenOffice has a drawing tool that is pretty lame but
           functional. -tom
