\_ Giving a damn about the World Cup != giving a damn about soccer.
This has been an exciting, topsy-turvy tournament. Maradona must

Cal Football on KLAC Radio in Los Angeles This Fall Bears to have significant radio presence in Southern California market. June 10, 2004 BERKELEY - In an unprecedented move, the Cal Athletic Department has signed a radio affiliate agreement with Southern California's KLAC 570 AM, the flagship station of the Los Angeles Lakers, to broadcast Cal football games for the 2004 season. The agreement, which signals the resurgence of the Golden Bear football program, is considered the largest radio affiliate agreement in the school's history. Due to their powerful position "high on the dial," KLAC 's broadcast of Cal football will reach listeners spanning from Ventura County to San Diego County. Jeff Tedford's Bears, coming off a second straight winning season that was capped by a 52-49 victory over Virginia Tech in the 2003 Insight Bowl, are ranked among the nation's Top 20 teams in early pre-season polls. "Since Coach Tedford assumed control of our program, interest in Cal football has increased dramatically among our alumni base," said Solomon Fulp, director of corporate partnerships, who negotiated the KLAC deal. "Besides providing many of our Southern California alumni and friends with live play-by-play description of our games, the KLAC signal also offers a weekly forum of communication for the University and the Athletic Department that should prove invaluable with some of our most important supporters." KGO Radio (810 AM, San Francisco) will celebrate its 31st consecutive year as flagship station for Cal football this fall. With the addition of KLAC, the Golden Bears Football Radio Network now includes five stations, with the other affiliates being KESP (970 AM) in Modesto, KTHO (590 AM) in South Lake Tahoe and KKXX (930 AM) in Chico. and University of California The team names, logos and uniform designs are registered trademarks of the teams indicated.
