On the one hand, I'll miss seeing other men's daughters walking
around half naked, on the other hand, most men;s daughters are fat
and ugly so it sort of balances out.
        \_ Thank heavens
\_ I've actually heard this complaint a lot from women. It's
actually difficult to find decent fat lady clothes.
\_ Half-naked is nice. Hip huggers are nasty no matter who or what.
\_ Move somewhere where most girls have waists. -John
\_ the *original* hip huggers (early 70s) were nice; they
accentuated the hips and butt. The current low riders are
cut to square off the butt--they look bad on virtually
                 everyone. -tom
\_ Did you not see the part where they say the bitch is a Roman Cath?
Most RC's have really stupid hangups about their bodies.
           - Recovering Jesuit
\_ Yes and what does that have to do with the price of tea? She
isn't the one with the problem. She's a little girl who doesn't
want to walk around looking like a $5 Oakland street corner
hooker. That makes her a bitch? No. That makes her a decent
human being who isn't willing to knuckle under to the queers
and old bitter lesbians who run the fashion industry who all
hate women. More power to her.

3/21 Is there a reason why women love junk mail and spam mail? I helped
my family members get rid of Red Plum, Valassis, DMA, etc and
everyone's junk mail has decreased significantly, however all the
women in my life (wife, sister, mother) are pissed at me. Ditto with
email spam: through their permissions I unsubscribed mailing lists,
but now they want them back again because they're missing out on some

8/2 Where's the closest Chick-Fil-A to San Francisco? I need to

        \_ Chick-Fil-A is a place for people who want to Fil(l)-A-Chick. :-)

1/21 I have never been to the Caribbean. My gf has been to Puerto Rico
and the Dominican Republic only. We'd like to vacation there as
we'll be in Florida for another reason anyway and it's a quick
flight over. Does anyone here have recommendations for which
island to visit? Barbados? Aruba? Virgin Islands? I realize timing
is bad with the disaster in Haiti, but I can't help that.

10/11 Are there any CSUA'ers in NYC, or who know things to do in NYC? steven

\_ I thought the Empire State Building was much better than I
expected it to be. The museums are all stellar, especially the
Met, MoMA, and Natural History Museum. Lots of good

5/17 Has anyone else noticed that today's teenaged girls are freakishly
tall? The stats may not bear that out because of changing demographics
in this nation (influx of shorter peoples) but even traditionally
short races like Asian are taller than they were. Today I noticed
at least 4 girls over 6' tall at the grocery store (two different
stores) doing shopping with their dads. (I guessed these women were

REDMOND, Washington (AP) -- During a recent shopping trip to Nordstrom, 11-year-old Ella Gunderson became frustrated with all the low-cut hip-huggers and skintight tops. "I see all of these girls who walk around with pants that show their belly button and underwear," she wrote. "Your clearks (sic) sugjest (sic) that there is only one look. If that is true, then girls are suppost (sic) to walk around half naked." Nordstrom executives wrote back and promised Ella the company would try to provide a variety of fashions for youngsters. The shy, bespectacled redhead has since become an instant media darling, appearing on national television over the past two weeks to promote modest fashions instead of the saucy looks popularized by the likes of Britney Spears. Ella is on to something: A more modest look is in, some fashion experts say. "We like to call this new girl Miss Modesty," said Gigi Solif Schanen, fashion editor at Seventeen magazine. "It's such a different feeling but still very pretty and feminine and sexy. Shoppers are starting to see higher waistlines and lower hemlines, and tweeds, fitted blazers and layers are expected to be big this fall, Schanen said. "It's kind of like a sexy take on a librarian," she said. "I think people are tired of seeing so much skin and want to leave a little more to the imagination." com -- where the slogan is "Clothing your father would be proud of" -- report that sales have skyrocketed over the past 18 months. Many youngsters are frustrated by the profusion of racy teenage clothing, according to Buzz Marketing, a New Jersey-based firm that compiles feedback from teen advisers. Kids are going to say enough already," said Buzz's 24-year-old chief executive, Tina Wells. "The next big trend I see is kids are going to look like monks." In 2002, a group of Arizona teens submitted a petition to the Phoenix division of the Dillard's department store chain asking for more modest clothes. Nordstrom spokeswoman Deniz Anders said the company has been hearing for about two years from customers who want more modest looks, and Nordstrom tries to carry a broad array of styles in its stores. The arrival of the modest look is good news for Ella, who last week participated in a sold-out "Pure Fashion" show in Bellevue with 37 other girls belonging to a Roman Catholic youth organization. Ella, who paraded down the catwalk in a long-sleeved pink top and a shiny pink skirt, hopes the fashion show -- and her letter -- will prompt some change. "There can be more than one look," the Redmond youngster said in an interview while wearing a loose Pure Fashion T-shirt, jeans and hot pink flip-flops.
