He could teach House Republicans on how to fight for conservative values. There are a lot more smart, independant, successful Blacks out there than the liberal media is admiting, or the Democrats want. A millionaire herself, she has been funded by the trial lawyers and the militant homosexual PAC's. Virginia Foxx maybe okay for California, but certainly not the NC-05, where Bush received 66% of the votes in 2000. Conservatives need to stop her from winning the primary. Trial lawyers cut across party lines -- see Lindsey Graham. Her only other thing is gays, but she at least claims to be pro-life and is endorsed by NC Right to Life in her senate races. She's personally popular with her constituents, and voters don't always follow strict ideological standards, rather personal impression. I don't think she puts "I LOVE GAYS" on her campaign signs, shall we say. Too many voters select the candidate who has the most personal appeal rather than examining his/her stand on the issues. John Edwards and Jesse Helms were first elected to the US Senate largely due to their personal impressions on the voters. With his position on income taxes and his RINO opponent, he should look into getting Club for Growth support for his primary run. Here's my problem: I just moved into the Winston-Salem area (NC) and the current Congressman from my district (Burr) is also running for Senate here. I understand he has an excellent conservative record and a substantial warchest. BUT There is little I would enjoy more than to help solve many of our society's racial problems by increasing the number of genuine conservative men and women of color in politics. Watts" (minus the family problems) I would LOVE to have him represent me. Support Vernon for US House, support Burr for US Senate. The Dems don't have a chance in either race, unless a liberal Republican wins the district 5 primary. I personally would have a hard time in choosing between them. May God be merciful to this nation and raise up men who aquit themselves as men. And may He hold them responsible for every bit of what they do and don't do in office. I personally would have a hard time in choosing between them. There are several good conservatives running who are from the district that I don't think Snyder deserves serious consideration as a carpetbagger. Then upon that hearing that Burr is running for the Senate, Snyder moved to the NC-05 in hopes of winning the open House seat. I guess challenging Bob Etheridge in the NC-02 is too hard for him. However I think he used to and still lives in Lexington, which is in Mel Watt's gerrymandered district. I don't know that he's moved into NC-5 or plans to, although I don't get a lot of Snyder news. FReeper cphine is tight with him so I'll ping but he's been AWOL from FR for a while. He uses as a defense the fact that Sue Myrick did not live in NC-9 when she first ran, and Walter Jones Jr. I say run against Watt, he needs some series challengers, although Dr. Ada Fisher, another black Republican, is running this year. That way, in the next round of redistricting, Watt will demand to have as many minority voters packed into his serpent-shaped district as possible. If Watt's district were to disappear, the NC-02 and the NC-06 would change from rock solid GOP districts to marginal ones. Black conservative ping If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; We had 'em all the way) 188 Post Reply | 189 Private Reply | 190 To 27 | 191 View Replies To: Spirited I can't vote for Vernon Robinson either but I sent a check off several months ago and will do more later. Before we were redistricted to the 6th we campaigned for him and I know he will have no trouble getting white votes if he wins his primary. I don't live in NC now but I know he would be an outspoken burr under the saddle of the RATS. It showed a Dem poltico launching a load of tobacco juice at a North Carolina map. The resulting splotch and dribble down the map was Watts' district. Natural black districts in eastern North Carolina were never created because they had been gerrymandered years earlier to protect white DemocRat congresscritters. It's always difficult to know how a candidate will actually perform in office once elected. I have seen how Vernon performs under fire, and he has demonstrated that he is as solid as Senator Helms was. Once some of these guys really get some exposure, things will change. Once some of these guys really get some exposure, things will change. Favored = "predicted by me to have the best % chance to win" I'd say Vernon has a good shot, also Cain (depending on whether he catches fire, how much $$ he spends, how well Collins does), followed by Glenn and Winters -- but all of these folks are going up against established politicians (Broyhill, Foxx, Westmoreland, Collins, Isakson) with more existing support. Luckily 3 of them only have to worry about the primary, but LeSueur and Winters would have uphill general elections.
