8/13 Warren Buffett hired as Schwarzenegger's campaign adviser:
        http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2003/08/13/financial1529EDT0203.DTL
\_ Great. He can help invest all of that surplus money CA has.
\_ Buffett is a Democrat. Interesting.
\_ So is Ah-nold's wife. Is the guy really a Republican?
                 \_ he's not a true Republican.
\_ Not a troll... what issues make Arnold Republican? Might be a troll:
What makes some call Dean a Commie/Socialist (is it a health-care
thing, or the bush-bashing thing) while others say that he is more
conservative than the other Democrats. --not too political
\_ Dean's a commie because he raised taxes and guaranteed health care
to every child up to age 18. He's a conservative because his
economic policy is very centrist-- don't borrow from the future,
balance the budget, and so on.

7/18 California state government spent $145 billion last fiscal year, $41
billion more than four years ago when Gov. Gray Davis got recalled by

Click to View graphical line (08-13) 13:15 PDT LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Warren Buffett will serve as senior financial and economic adviser in actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's bid to replace Gray Davis if the governor loses the recall vote, the Republican actor's campaign announced Wednesday. Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, is a billionaire investor legendary for his financial prowess. "What he will be doing is assembling other prominent business leaders and economists and setting up a team to address the issues facing California," said Schwarzenegger spokesman Sean Walsh. Buffett said in a statement: "I have known Arnold for years and know he'll be a great governor. It is critical to the rest of the nation that California's economic crisis be solved, and I think Arnold will get that job done." Buffett has lent political assistance in the past to former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey, who ran for president in 1992 but lost the Democratic nomination to Bill Clinton. He has also donated money to Democrats including New York Sen. Bob Graham and former presidential candidate Bill Bradley, Federal Election Commission records show. In his investments, he generally avoids high-tech companies, arguing he cannot tell which will be usurped by advances in technology. He was unavailable for interviews, an assistant in his office said. Schwarzenegger is among scores of candidates vying to replace Davis if the governor loses an Oct.
