7/7 Another printer question. I bought a HP LaserJet 6L about 4 years
ago and for the past year when it pulls in a new sheet of paper,
it actually pulls in a bunch (1-5 additional sheets). I don't want
to send it to HP (which is what they want me to do). Are there
places around the bay area that can repair this sort of problem?
        Thanks.
\_ HP was class actioned for this awhile ago; I've heard that for some
models they'll send you new rollers for free. There's also
http://fixyourownprinter.com which charge ~$30 for the rollers and
a fairly helpful .avi on a CD that shows you how to do the
replacement. I ponied up to fix my 5L and I'm pretty happy.
\_ that's $30 too much. you can get it for free from HP's website.
              \_ the video too?
\_ where for free? I haven't found anything free
                   on their website.

6/22 Anyone have experience with the HP 2550L color laser printer? It's on
sale @ CostCo for $360, and I'm considering it. The criticisms I've

Designed with the average user in mind, these kits cost a fraction of the typical repair bill (in most incidents they're cheaper than an estimate), and eliminate the waiting period and unreliability of some computer stores. They're also a great tool for training new techs, or if you're interested in learning how to fix laser printers yourself.

HP LaserJet 6L, 1100, 1100A, 3100, and 3150 Series Products - Multiple Sheets F eed Through the Printer ISSUE: Multiple sheets feed through the HP LaserJet 6L, 1100/1100A, 3100 or 3150 series product during a print job. Verify the media is within the specifications for the unit. Verify the media is in good condition and is not damaged, curled, wrinkled, or irregularly shaped. Media that is not stored in the original packaging will adapt to the HP LaserJet series printers' environment. Check the following environmental conditions at the HP LaserJet series printer's location. Each can be a contributing factor to print quality and output problems, resulting in severe paper curl, paper pick problems, multiple feeds, ghosting, and jamming. Insufficient moisture makes paper less conductive and creates static buildup. Turn the paper stack over or turn it around in the input tray to reverse the direction of the paper. This can cause poor print alignment, mis-stacking, improper fit in the input tray, or difficulties for the paper sensors. When adding paper to an existing stack in the paper input bin, always remove and realign all of the paper to avoid multiple paper feeds, paper jams, or both. Do not "fan" the paper before adding it to the paper input bin. Instead, "break" the paper by gently folding the stack of paper in half in a U shape. Make sure the paper meets the specifications listed for basis weight in 26 HP LaserJet Printer Family - Print Media Guide. Clean the printer with a dry lint-free cloth, or with the recommended cleaning kit from HP. Make sure to remove all dust, spilled toner and particles of paper from the unit, see the User's Manual that shipped with the unit for cleaning instructions specific to the model. NOTE: Dirt, debris, and paper fragments may accumulate on top of the separation pad. Store media in the paper ream, out of direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry environment. Avoid the following types of media: + Print media that is very rough, highly textured, or heavily embossed. If you selected not easy for question 2, in which section did you expect to find it?
