7/25 Friend of mine's thinking about joining the armed forces.
He was thinking either marines or army. I was going to say that
marines are far more dangerous, but then I stopped and thought of
the Three Block War vs. the Navy shelling the crap out of Iraq
before the marine had to storm it; is the notion reversed now?
Does the army has a tougher job/more dangerous job than the marines

Both troops were with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. The first Marine died early Friday while his platoon battled Iraqi infantry to secure an oil pumping station in southern Iraq. He was transported by helicopter to a surgical company in Kuwait. The oil port now is under the full control of coalition forces, military officials said. Marines died when their CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed about nine miles south of the Iraqi border town of Umm Qasr. No hostile fire was reported in the area, military officials said.
