About 50 superb bonsai and many viewing stones (suiseki) are on display 5 days a week. The collection is changed regularly, so visit several times a year. The Collection - North is a joint project of the Golden State Bonsai Federation and the City of Oakland. It was built and is staffed and maintained by volunteers. Our sister, the Collection - South, is at the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino near Pasadena, California. Volunteer docents will provide you with a self-guiding key sheet describing each tree and stone. They can help with further information about the landscape plants, Japanese gates, bonsai in general, and bonsai clubs. Please call the Collection - North at (510) 763-8409 to arrange special group tours. The Collection - North is a tax-deductible, charitable and educational organization.
