11/4 I'm about 9000 feet from the CO. In an apartment complex.
What kind of DSL speed can I expect? thanks.
The Covad phone answerer claims they already checked my apartment
        and it can get 200/64.
What if I move to SF duplex at 7000 ft from CO?
\_ if thats what they claim at 7000' then the results of the MLT
must have been pretty bad... ask them what the results look like.
at 7000' you should be able to get their highest service unless
there is something wrong with your copper pair. if thats the case
then even DSL w/ pacbell will be limited.
\_ Why don't you ask Covad about your potential new address?
        \_ http://www.dslreports.com/faq/4676
           How about Telco ADSL?
\_ Covad routinely lies to get you to upgrade to more expensive DSL

this is using MySQL regexp but I'll also accept

12/15 Does anyone have experience investing in apartment buildings
I'm not really looking to invest, but I want an apartment
to live in, and I'm not happy with the leases I'm encountering
for instance one requires 2 years of tax returns with the
application. I'm in a position to buy a building, but I've
got no experience with this, and I don't want to learn that

7/28 My girlfriend and I took care of my girlfriend's nephew for 3 weeks
while his mom was off working for the Air Force (she is a reservist
and a single mom). As part of that my girlfriend stayed at her
apartment a lot, watching him and the cats. Occasionally he stayed
at our house. It was a lot of responsibility. The weekend before
she got back we spent a lot of time cleaning her place. In fact, I

\_ Yes it's true. LA is a great place to visit, but not so great

3/17 I posted on 2/10 about a landlord that stiffed me $600 on
my deposit. I wrote him a "strongly worded letter" and followed it up
with a "Pay up or I'm going to file a small claims court in 10 days"
template. He didn't respond so I filed a claim, but the day I filed
a claim, he wrote me back and added $250 to the deposit. If I hadn't
already spent the $60 on the filing, I would have been happy and taken

2/3 There's a glut of apartments out there. Three units on my floor
(of a 80 unit apartment) are now vacant, in less than a month.
The weird thing is my landlord is increasing the rent by $200
a month, bumping it to $2200. I'm told her about the rate out
there, and she only budged $100. WTF, is this common? Oh well,
time to look for another place. I hate corporate managed apartments.

Your phone lines normally terminate at a telco office, usually nearby. This distance, (the length of your line between your location and the telco office), is a very important factor in whether or not you can get DSL, and what speed you can get. Please be aware that especially with non Telco ADSL lines, distance limits for speeds can vary widely from company to company. There are cases where it is policy for "residential" DSL lines not to be offered as far out as functionally identical "business" products! The subject of distance and DSL is so important, we've added a special page for it, check this for detailed distance information per DSL network : 40 Distance charts. Distance In Feet comment less than 5000 You will have little trouble getting all speeds of DSL 5000-10600 You may have trouble getting the highest speeds on offer 10600-15000 The danger zone for DSL from national CLECs like Covad and NorthPoint. Speeds on offer are pinned back steadily until they reach 192k for 15,000 feet. If your line is longer than around 15000 feet, they may not accept an order. Some smaller DSL specialist CLECs may have solutions for you.
