The CHP warns commuters of slowed conditions along eastbound I-580 on the Bay Bridge. San Francisco police say that an elderly woman shot in the Bayview district early this morning is related to the woman who was kidnapped last night from a drug rehabilitation center by an armed abductor who closed off all lanes of the Bay Bridge this morning in a hostage stand-off involving multiple units of Oakland and San Francisco police. San Francisco police have identified Clay Cael, 48, as the man who staged an armed kidnapping of wife Bridgette Holt, 36, at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night at the Walden House, a drug rehabilitation center located in the 800 block of Buena Vista Avenue West. Authorities say that Cael is also responsible for the shooting death of an elderly woman at a residence located at 90 Bayview Street which occurred this morning at around 2:40 am A spokeswoman for the San Francisco police says that the shooting victim is related to Bridgette Holt, but the exact relationship between the two women remains unclear. A hostage situation arose early this morning on the Bay Bridge as Cael was seen brandishing a gun while fleeing from authorities with Holt. San Francisco police say that after about one and a half hours, authorities did fire shots at the suspect. The hostage was unharmed in the gunfire, though authorities were unable to confirm the Cael's status. Cael is in the custody of the Oakland Police Department. Authorities say he will be charged with the homicide of the elderly woman who resided at 90 Bayview Street in San Francisco, among other things. San Francisco and Oakland police departments and Homicide units are investigating the case. |
