He is a hack that hung around for years and years until he finally got the governor's seat. He and his tax and spend and spend and spend socialist buddies in the legislature work 24/7 coming up with ways to buy votes with our tax $'s. There are never any budget cuts and eliminating the dark side cults funded by our tax $'s. They just scheme and plan on new ways to raise taxes or write new bonds, a shameless parlor trick to pass on reckless spending to our children and grand children. My dad was born on the 5th of July, and his aunt who raised him said that he was all ways late except when it was meal time! And if the federal government won't guarantee the loan, Davis will attack the mean-spirited Republican Congress, greedy Enron executive and George W. Bush who want to kick old people out of their homes, starve children to death and reap millions of dollars in profits on the backs of oppressed women, gays and peoples of color. I don't understand why this guy wants re-election - he can't do his job and should hand it over to someone who can. Or does he simply want to hand Simon the poisoned chalice? Simon may have little choice but to drastically cut spending (or even raise taxes) if he's elected, which could start him off on the wrong foot with everyone. Whoever the next Governor is will face the biggest challenge in state history. Davis is hoping that he can lie long enough so that he's re-elected, but then he'll propose the biggest tax hike in state history. Unfortunately, Simon might have to do the same thing, because the Legislature isn't going to cut spending much, if any. The legislature will still be overwhelming Democrat, and the mess that Davis left can't be fixed in a single term as Governor. Bush who want to kick old people out of their homes, starve children to death and reap millions of dollars in profits on the backs of oppressed women, gays and peoples of color. As others have pointed out, this budget mess is going to bite whomever is the next governor. If Simon wins, the media will suddenly have amnesia and forget that Davis was responsible for creating the trouble. Its appalling that he would take such a selfish course at the expense of the people of California. If that happens, this state will more resemble a third-world tyranny than a state of the union. If Davis gets in, there will be a ban and confiscation of firearms before his term ends. The idiot did know that the chinese invented calculators. I expect Davis to have to use rosy revenue projections (based on pure fiction, but nobody but Kathleen Connell will say anything) and borrowing to close most of the gap. I'm no Davis fan but I know when I've been screwed and who by and it was Enron and Reliant and no kiss. I didn't see a sarcasm tag, so I'm going to believe that you were serious - seriously gullible (either that or you're a Rat party hack). Lets say that you're boss didn't give you a raise for 10 years (price controls on the purchase price of energy). During that 10 years, you got married, moved out of your parents house and bought a house, and had three kids (the cost of energy went up). Your company refused to allow you to take on a part time job, and there was no overtime to help increase your take home pay (the environmentalist wackos prevented the power companies from building nuke plants, prevented exploring and drilling new oil wells, and since the purchase price for energy remained constant, you could not afford to build more efficient fossile fuel power plants). Over time, as the cost of living increased each year, and without being able to increase your take-home pay, you find yourself unable to meet the monthly bills and are already in debt up to eyeballs. You'd probably blame the phone company, the cable company, the mortgage company, the grocery store owner, Walmart and Ford. NOT - It was you boss's restrictions that caused you the problem, not the businesses. The same applies to the power companies servicing Kalifornia. You can't cap the purchase price, without subsidizing the supply side. Well, last summer was the subsidy, and it will continue until power companies are able to do what they do best - explore for new sources of energy, building newer more efficient plants, and charge customers the going rate at the time consumption takes place. Much like the property tax caps, its all gonna come home to roost. Freeze property taxes so nobody realizes we're spending money like it was going out of style. Hopefully in twelve hours we will have a REPUBLICAN County Excutive in Milwaukee County. I will be setting off for some desert island in the South Pacific.
