2/12 What's a good site for finding cheap airfares these days? I know about Travelocity, but are there others? \_ http://cheaptickets.com, http://expedia.com, http://priceline.com \_ http://orbitz.com, http://hotwire.com \_ I concur... these are two excellent services that I have used several times. If you have more flexibility, you'll get a better deal with hotwire. I used hotwire to fly to mexico for a month, and orbitz to fly to DC for the weekend. Little known fact: Hotwire advertises to give you no flexibility in terms of changing or cancelling a purchased fare... but if you beg and plead enough, or have a good excuse, they'll give you one change or cancellation. - rory \_ For observation purpose only: http://www.air-fare.com/oak.htm \_ Thanks for the pointers. Has anyone had bad experiences with the sites listed above? \_ I did with Priceline. See http://www.angelfire.com/nt/priceline \_ http://www.angelfire.com/nt/priceline/mystory2.html "Page removed by request." |

While they reflect the fares for travel between the two cities, lower point-to-point fares may exist for connecting flights through other cities where highly competitive routes exist. From time to time airlines may file fares for routes on which they have no scheduled flights in order to protect their rights. Airlines reserve the right to change their fares at any time without notice. You are protected against fare increases only if your ticket has been issued. |
www.angelfire.com/nt/priceline -> www.angelfire.com/nt/priceline/ Site UpdateI have had this site up for about five months now. I wamt to thank everyone who has taken the time to write me an email. In that time I have received three distinct types of letters. Expectedly, I got a lot of hate mail from Priceline employees ranging from threatening lawsuits to agreeing with most of the site. I also got many stories from people who had experiences ranging from tremendous success with Priceline, to some real awful problems with the service. I will soon be adding another page specifically addressing this request. Priceline is a buying service, which allows you to "name your own price" for airline tickets. They have deals with certain airlines to enable lower air fares on certain routes. The Truth: Priceline has little boxes to check that let you indicate if you will be "flexible" in your ticket choices. Flexible means that you will fly on a hard-to-sell route such as to a different city, or a different day. Most often, this will include a multiple stop-over flight, possibly a "red-eye" all in the name of saving you money. For those travelers who don't minding spending a little more time doing diligence and have some patience, you will be able to find better deals than with Priceline. Most importantly, you will be able to see the route you take before your credit card is charged. I only had one bad experience, but I have since found that Pricline finds new ways to disappoint its customers. |
