2/1 You should've got a Dell, dude!
        http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/31/dell.guy/index.html
\_ what's funny is that until i went to that link just now,
i thought that the phrase "dude, you should have got a dell"
was entirely of motd origin. that is how far out of touch i
           am, apparently.
\_ shit, come to think of it me too.
\_ yes, after all, for many of us, motd is the main form of
              social interaction.
        \_ that's awesome. he's hilarious...

7/31 Hi, I am looking for a monitoring recommendation for use at home
with my MacMini and as a second monitor for my Airbook. At this
point I dont want to buy a fancy Apple monitor -- will probably
wait for then to announce a new one -- but price doesnt really
matter [office buy], but it doesnt seem like there is any need
to spend more than $500? Historically I've just gotten a decent

3/29 A friend wants a PC (no mac). She doesn't want Dell. Is there a
good place that can custom build for you (SSD, large RAM, cheap video
        card--no game)?
\_ As a side note: back in my Cal days more than two decades ago when
having a 387SX made me the only person with floating-point hardware,
           most machines were custom built.

5/6 My new Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP finally arrived. While it's only
1/2 the cost of an Apple LED Cinema Display 24, it has very rich
colors and is super bright. However, it is HUGE. It's about 5 inches
thick and looks uber ugly on my little desk. Functionally, it
does what it does well, and the specifications are superb. But

really need to be SSD optimized before this can be considered
truly viable and yet every vendor from Dell to Sun to Apple is
shipping these. Are they ready for prime-time on an important

From Jason Carroll CNN 37 NEW YORK (CNN) -- He is the Mrs. Olson of high-tech, the Maytag repairman of motherboards, the Mr. He's the latest hot commercial pitchman, with a jargon not unfamiliar to Bill and Ted of "Excellent Adventure" fame -- or his high school-age fans. He's Steven, the Dell guy, and he's helped Dell Computer Corp. Dell receives fan mail from a whole spectrum of people, from senior citizens to teen-age girls, USA Today reports. It could be something in the pitchman's eyes, or eyebrows. The student behind the ads Curtis Curtis, a New York acting student, says he can't explain the success of the Dell ads. The young Tennessee native was discovered by Dell's former New York agency, Lowe Worldwide. Dell, however, moved its $200 million account to another agency, DDB Chicago, last year and used Curtis' talent to make a series of successful commercials. Curtis is so popular that it became difficult for him to complete a photo shoot this week without a fan shouting or running over to grab a little bit of him. He says he is not sure how long Steve's appeal will last but that he will enjoy the perks along the way. Industry observers have recognized the remarkable achievement. The marketing strategy is simple: A young guy will get people to buy. Find 49 Back to the top 2003 Cable News Network LP, LLLP.
