10/24 If I compress my MP3s using WinAmp and RealAudio, will Archos or
others recognize its MP3 format? Iv'e noticed that RealAudio saves
more info that WinAmp doesn't pick up.
        \_ try it!
\_ good god, Real's MP3 encoder sucks ass. Why aren't you using LAME?
\_ ANYTHING http://real.com makes sucks ass. That POS format/program
is worse than WMP. Can't believe one of their VP is now a Senator

7/7 If you're interested in working at Lawrence Livermore National Lab,
there are quite a few openings. The first opening I heard about
today was for working on parallel file systems in Linux, a good OS
hacking job. See it at: /csua/pub/jobs/LLNL. However, there are
always a lot of jobs for scientific programmers (Familiariry with
Math, Physics, and/or biology are big pluses). There's also some sys

1/14 this is kinda cool: a plugin that automatically sets your yahoo

1/6 For those who listen to NPR via the web. Is there anyway I can
download the streaming programs into an independent file so I can
transfer them on my Palm PDA and listen to it while I commute?
All their audio links are embedded in some sort of javascript
which makes "save the link as" impossible. Thanks in advance.

12/21 Whoever said Winamp 5 is not a resource hog should go to hell.
I have a Pentium 3/600 MHZ labtop. That thing eats up most of the
CPU cycle. For those who want something light, go for Winamp 5 lite.
Then again, I don't see any reason for upgrade to winamp 5 light from
winamp 2.9x, since most of the cool features are in the "full" version

12/18 Re: Winamp resource hog: Winamp 5 seems to be doing better than 2 for
me. I use it to listen to soundtracks when playing games, and was
having trouble with 2. 5 works great.
\_ CPU-wise, Winamp 5 seems the same as Winamp2, same for resistance to
skipping. Winamp5 seems to use a few megs more memory. All in all
it's not bad, although it feels a little like it has feature-creep.
