there are quite a few openings. The first opening I heard about
today was for working on parallel file systems in Linux, a good OS
hacking job. See it at: /csua/pub/jobs/LLNL. However, there are
always a lot of jobs for scientific programmers (Familiariry with
Math, Physics, and/or biology are big pluses). There's also some sys

2004/2/5 [Computer/SW/Apps/Media] UID:12115 Activity:nil | 2/5 How do you organize your MP3s?
\_ musicbrainz is a good idea in theory. I think there's a Windows client.
\_ /mp3/[A-Z]/Artist/Album/Artist - 01 - This Song.mp3
\_ what program do you use? (jukebox)
\_ Winamp 2.91. Played with iTunes, it's no good unless you have
complete ID3 tags on almost everything, and I don't. I played

substitute? I'm nearly weeping at how *nice* it is. Would someone
kindly point me toward the kool-aid?
\_ does it play mp3s, or does it need to convert to their format?
\_ it plays mp3s.

download the streaming programs into an independent file so I can
transfer them on my Palm PDA and listen to it while I commute?
All their audio links are embedded in some sort of javascript
which makes "save the link as" impossible. Thanks in advance.

2003/12/22 [Computer/SW/Apps/Media, Computer/HW/CPU] UID:11557 Activity:nil | 12/21 Whoever said Winamp 5 is not a resource hog should go to hell.
I have a Pentium 3/600 MHZ labtop. That thing eats up most of the
CPU cycle. For those who want something light, go for Winamp 5 lite.
Then again, I don't see any reason for upgrade to winamp 5 light from
winamp 2.9x, since most of the cool features are in the "full" version

me. I use it to listen to soundtracks when playing games, and was
having trouble with 2. 5 works great.
\_ CPU-wise, Winamp 5 seems the same as Winamp2, same for resistance to
skipping. Winamp5 seems to use a few megs more memory. All in all
it's not bad, although it feels a little like it has feature-creep.
