I was hoping for a delay in this bill so that it wouldn't be passed
but those idiots somehow pushed the bill through. honestly now, see
ya. I'm quitting my job after nov 26 and i'm going to move to japan
permanently. the country is now a totalitarian entity and our
freedoms are gone. it was nice knowing all of you. if i can't find
a tech job, i'm going to become a teacher. either way, there's no
way i'm going to live in this country with this regime. it's going
to be far worse than mccarthyism.
        [ reformatted ]
\_ blah blah blah, nothing is different. The exact same powers have
existed since before your birth. You're still living in the most
free country *ever* to exist on this planet but if you want to go
so badly no one is going to shed a bitter tear over it. If you're
serious you'd cancel your American citizenship and get Japanese
citizenship but oh wait, they won't want you.
\_ Does this give the FBI to read email without a warrant?
\_ that's a little bit extreme. I mean, the FBI gets the power
to tap phones, they've always had that power anyway... what's
else in the bill that is so bad?
\_ "Sen. Phil Gramm (news - bio - voting record), R-Texas, said that
if the worker relief measure went forward, he would try to attach
language to open 2,000 acres of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge to oil and gas drilling."
\_ Probably because the IRA hasn't ceased terrorism?
Gotta love the way our political system works.
\_ hopefully the House will stick by its guns and make sure the bill
           gets an expiration date
\_ Lotta good that will do. The Brits passed a similar law
in 1971 with a sunset provision. Funny thing, it keeps
getting extended. The cops never want to give back your rights.
\_ Maybe because the IRA never ceases terrorism?
                                   \_ Aerin Go Braugh!
\_ The bridge toll increases were all "temporary".
\_ As if Japan is so much better than here. Good luck gaijin,
you've watched one to many anime eps. and read megatokyo
           far too often.
\_ Nah, he just wants to get high from puffing siren(sp?) gas.
                \_ sarin
\_ Can you get high by inhaling anthrax spores?

\_ and the state is slowly turning conservative. Meg 2010!

\_ Yeah, because CA sure has a problem with not enough dems in power!
