8/13 Does anyone have the announcement of a class about fractals etc. posted to http://ucb.org.csua? Is there an archive of the group? (google doesn't have it) Thanks. \_ why was this post purged? \_ I searched a little harder and found the answer on my own. I'm still curious about the archive though -- does it exist? \_ The course URL was: http://www.ce.berkeley.edu/~hermanowicz/e101/e101_index.htm Email me privately if you want me to reforward the entire message (don't want to dump it all in the motd). -alexf, The Original Forwarder \_ OF, kinda like OG. \_ you should keep explaining other peoples' jokes. it will make you cool. |

www.ce.berkeley.edu/~hermanowicz/e101/e101_index.htm We will try to look at a variety of natural objects and processes, and their mathematical counterparts to see if we can characterize such features as ruggedness, structure, contingency, "butterfly effect". The focus will be on the development of intuition and on applications rather than rigorous mathematical derivations. I hope that you will acquire a new 17 Weltanschauung and start thinking about scaling laws, sensitivity to initial conditions, small changes and large effects. Grade Requirements: Participation in the class activities, home assignments, term paper, final exam Required Text: None Reference Readings: Addison, Paul S. VCH, Weinheim Other Readings: A reference file in the Engineering library. |
