9/4 Is there a way to get pine's news reader to do threaded listings?
I've used trn et al but I'm hoping to do this w/ pine.
\_ Use slrn; it's a lot like mutt (vice-versa is more accurate, but
mutt is more popular) Oh.. you don't use mutt. Switch from pine
to mutt, it's faster and more powerful. You don't have enough
clue to do so? http://www.mutt.org and read the documentation.
Still don't get it.. wow.. that's like... not my problem.
\_ Oh? Are you a moron? I'm a moron? Why thank you.

to delete them. Or is there a better one to use? never learned
        'mail'..
        \_ mutt
\_ so why doesn't alpine work? What setting should I use to have
it work with my csua mail folder? Thanks!

3/10 What email program do people in Cal CS use nowadays? In my school days
people used /usr/bin/mail, then RMail in emacs, then VMail in emacs.
After my days people used Elm, Pine, Mutt (I forgot which order). In
my first two jobs we could tell the seniority of fellow engineers based
on which email program they use at work, because everyone used what
they used to use in their school years. In my last two jobs though,

2/20 There was a failure validating the SSL/TLS certificate for the server
                                          <DEAD>mail.csua.berkeley.edu<DEAD>
The reason for the failure was
self signed certificate in certificate chain (details)
We have not verified the identity of your server. If you ignore this certificate validation
problem and continue, you could end up connecting to an imposter server.

6/29 Do I need to enable pine?
\_ Try alpine. Pine isn't supported anymore --steven
\_ alpine not working. are there any config instructions
                for using alpine with csua?
\_ Try using imaps as described in a future posting ^

12/9 Does anyone know of a good blogging software that can
handle blogging entries as well as photo albums?
Wordpress and the WP Gallery plugin is too tricky to
configure easily. And please don't mention Facebook!
\_ Why not just use Blogger and Flickr/Picasa or whatever? -tom

9/22 Gmail's "conversation feature" drives me nuts! Is there a way to
disable that and make Gmail act like every other e-mail client on the
planet? WTF thought this was a nice thing to have on by default?
\_ Umm, why don't you just use another email service then...
\_ Umm, I do, which is how I have something to compare to. I get
mail in at least 4 places only one of which is Gmail. I

Though written from scratch, Mutt's initial interface was based largely on the ELM mail client. To a large extent, Mutt is still very ELM-like in presentation of information in menus (and in fact, ELM users will find it quite painless to switch as the default key bindings are identical). Mutt was originally written by 28 Michael Elkins but is now developed and maintained by the members of the Mutt development 29 mailing list.
