3/13 At work each "phone" jack has an ethernet port, digital phone, analog
phone, and a fax port. Anybody know where I can get a jack like that?
I couldn't find it at homedepot. -trying to rewire my house.
\_ Just unscrew the one at work. (Someone else's office)
\_ http://www.l-com.com sells just about every possible connector or
cable for many different applicaqtions. they should have
whatever jack you need, and i think they can do online orders
           via web.
\_ Did you look in the catalogs? (http://www.blackbox.com for example)
        \_ under your desk? *grin*
\_ I liked it better when the area admin was under my desk.

3/21 Browser Plug-In you must get: Ghostery. It gets rid of a bunch of
ad trackers on a web site, resulting in really fast load times.
For example, a typical media site will require 10-15 trackers
(you know, those URLs that track your activities so they can
target you better). Ghostery kills them.

\_ how much performance gain are you expecting from using SSD?
Let's say your 7200RPM yields 70 MB/sec (sustained) read and
your new SSD yields 160 MB/sec read, and that your application
is mostly streaming media (so the platter is continuous read,

\_ Soda doesn't have a real IPv6 address. The IPv6 addresses you see
in ifconfig are just link-local addresses; any IPv6-capable machine
will autogenerate these, whether or not it's connected to an IPv6

Google Wave No More. The people who worked on it were pretty smart.
They wrote up a super awesome OKR with extremely low bar as a measure
of success, exceeded everyone's expectations by going above those
bars, and got big fat bonuses and promotions as a result of their
        planning. Brilliant.

5/22 Are LED monitors much better than LCD monitors?
\_ OLED is still too new to know. They're direct emitters, so don't
have a backlight, and can turn completely off, hence better black.
The early news was that blue pixels burn out relatively quickly.
\_ FWIW, Zune HD will use OLED.

two WD Green 1T that takes 1Gbps connection, as well as a laptop
that is also 1Gbps. Online benchmarks show *sustained* transfer
rate of about 1/2 of 1Gbps with the WD Green... cool!!! But
in practice, I'm only getting 68Mbps (read SANS->PC file transfer),
far below what I expected. The switch says both devices are using
