3/12 Anybody know what this number does? x3-7907 (510-643-7907).
        Odd behaviour.
        \_ What does it do?
\_ Interesting. If you press numbers after it picks-up it will echo
           them back to you.
\_ If you speak loudly or whistle, it will also echo.
How would i find out what it does? Can i call the campus
telecom office? Or would they just shut it down w/o telling
me what it does? I am very curious about it.
And what is that sequence of tones it plays right after
               it picks up? Hmmm...
\_ Yeah, it's weird. The tones are most likely DTMF (numbers).
There are programs that take sound files of DTMF and display
which numbers they represent. -- peterl
\_ Dude, seriously, I just have a box hooked up to my dorm
phone. Stop calling. You're screwing up my project.
\_ Hmm, pardon my skepticism, but uh, if it really is
your number (it doesnt show up in my directory by
the way), what does it do? Thanks.
\_ It's a psych experiment to see how many geeks I can
get to try to hack a simple echo box.
\_ That's my dorm phone number.
        \_ How'd you find it?
\_ I posted it on usenet.
