11/18 What's the max. 401(k) contribution limit for tax years 1999 and
        2000? Thx.
        \_ Unless something's changed, it's $10k
\_ That's what I heard too, but on page 3 of
              http://ftp.fedworld.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p560.pdf it says the limit
              is $6k. What gives?
\_ Are you working for a small business that only offers a
                 Simple 401k?
\_ Yeah, about 20 employees, and the employer doesn't match
                    my contribution.
\_ if the employer doesn't match, according to that 560 pub
                      it's not a SIMPLE 401k. it's probably a normal one
                      and 10k limit. -oj
                      \_ I see. Thanks.
\_ Be careful. That word does not mean what you think it means.
(Where the IRS is concerned nothing is simple, and a Simple
401k is more complicated than simply a standard 401k.)
\_ What if I'm married and filing tax jointly with my working
              spouse?
\_ Ask HR or a CPA - much more reliable than the motd.
\_ For 1999 it was $10,000, for 2000 it has been increased to $10,500

9/2 I'm young, and stupid. Does the IRS want reporting on 401K, IRA,
Roth 401k/IRA? I am decades from retiring, and no plan to withdraw
anything. But, I just realized that I haven't reported any of my
retirement plans to IRS for several years, now wondering if I'm
        in big shit...

4/12 My gf did her taxes. She was unemployed most of last year and only
paid about $500 in federal tax. She is getting a refund of $1300.
We are both rather annoyed at this. How can you get a refund of
more than you paid in?! (This is a rhetorical question. I know
how.) Another acquaintance of mine makes less than half of what I
do, but her take home is only 20% less. Even though I put money into

\_ shooting heroin leaves you VERY constipated. seriously.
sometimes when i shoot junk i don't have to shit for 2 weeks.
