2006/2/18-23 [Computer/Networking] UID:41923 Activity:low | 2/18 My DSL modem's ip address is 192.168.0.1, my internal network
behind my router is 10.0.0.x. Is there a way I can configure
the router so I can access the DSL modem from my 10.0.0.x
network directly without re-wiring? Static routes? I tried it
but no much luck. I also tried changing my internal network to
192.168.0.x, but still does not work. Thanks.

\_ AFAIK, probably be corrected by someone:
hub: Allows communication on a LAN with bandwith shared amongs all
the nodes on the hub and maxing out at the max line speed.
switch: Allows communication on a LAN with bandwith greater than
the max line speed (point to point)

2004/12/22-23 [Computer/Networking] UID:35401 Activity:high | 12/22 If I buy an 802.11 hub for my company (I'm a new admin), how many
nodes/computers can 1 support, and what's the bandwidth? Say I have
200 people in my company, how many hubs do I need? Thanks.
\_ Theoretically you can support 223 devices max on each access
point. In reality you shouldn't have more than 25-50 devices
per AP, depending on what kind of users you have.

Or even your 3.5" ones?
\_ coasters
\_ Threw them away, keeping the ones that looked important.
It's a shame you can't recycle floppies, CDs, or jewel cases in
the normal way.

than the 100m max. What's the best way to connect them? Is there an
such a thing as a UTP-ethernet to coax bridge?
\_ you need Cisco's LRE (Long Range Ethernet) technology. It can
go up to a couple of thousand feets using typical twisted pair
like a phone line. -cisco guy

2002/3/18 [Computer/Theory] UID:24144 Activity:very high | 3/17 What are some good schools that do quantum computing research?
\_ Stanford, Berkeley, MIT.
\_ Stanford only has Colin Williams and not much else. Berkeley
and MIT are probably the main hubs right now. There's also
Andrew Yao at Princeton, some people at Cambridge and Weissman
IIRC, and the rest are at Almaden and some of the national labs.
