        \_ what's MST3K?
\_ look at the URL above.
\_ After the next season. Catch it while you can.
\_ Oh, let's face it -- MST3K has pretty much sucked ever
           since Joel left.
\_ NO WAY! The riffing became more sophisticated and the skits
became more elaborate an funny. Mike is great, besides the
fact that he's not Joel. Do you still watch the show?

but how does the receiver hookup to the 2 TV (which may be far
away, and A/V cable doesn't run very far). Are they using regular

DIED TODAY 1982: Hugh Marlowe (age 71), who portrayed John Borden in WORLD WITHOUT END, riffed in MST3K's first live show. EVENTS 1958: The movie "Ilja Muromets" shown in episode 617- THE SWORD AND THE DRAGON premieres in Finland, possibly its country of origin along with Russia. KEVIN'S BOOK IS ON THE AIR It's not 58 Books on Tape, but it's darn close. Pacific time, Los Angeles DJ 59 Reverend Dan reads a chapter from Kevin Murphy's book, A Year at the Movies. Reverend Dan began the reading at the beginning of the year and plans to continue through the end. KEVIN HEARS "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" In Kevin Murphy's book A Year at the Movies, one memorable section described his experience at the Sing-along Sound of Music show in London. Complimentary audience "Fun Packs" containing themed props will be handed out. Audience members are encouraged to attend in costume--Kevin will preside over the pre-show festivities, including a costume contest. DVD NEWS UPDATES We have a couple of updates for DVDs coming from 62 Legend Films that we had announced previously: Carnival of Souls and Night of the Living Dead Mike Nelson will be contributing audio commentary for the upcoming 63 Legend Films DVD releases of CARNIVAL OF SOULS and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Both are scheduled to be released this Halloween, but no retail price has yet been announced. Three Stooges We can now confirm that a DVD of restored and colorized THREE STOOGES shorts is in the works. The DVD will contain the following four shorts: "Disorder in the Court", "Brideless Groom", "Sing a Song of Six Pants" and "Malice in the Palace". What makes this DVD notable is that the shorts will be introduced by The Film Crew--aka Mike Nelson (Moe), Kevin Murphy (Larry) and Bill Corbett (Curly). Freaks and Geeks The TV show Freaks and Geeks (where Josh "J. Elvis" Weinstein was a producer and where Trace Beaulieu and Joel Hodgson made appearances) has been released as a six-disk set from 65 Shout! As always, we'll keep you abreast of all these and future DVD projects just as soon as we get further information. REMINDER -- "REEFER MADNESS" SWEEPSTAKES AND MORE 69 Small image of the REEFER MADNESS DVD cover. KEVIN ON BASEBALL MOVIES Baseball season has begun, but National Public Radio commentator Kevin Murphy isn't one to sit under a hot day's sun in a stadium watching baseball. He recommends two in particular: the documentary "The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg" and "61*", the fictionalized account of the record-breaking home run season of slugger Roger Maris. REPORT: TRACE AT MEGAPLEX Longtime fan Mike Ward attended the recent "PawPet Megaplex" event in Orlando, where Trace Beaulieu was guest of honor. Frank Conniff has signed on as a writer, producer and performer for 75 Air America, the "liberal" radio network. The network can be heard in several major media markets, and is also streamed on the Web and broadcast on XM Satellite Radio. By the way, Lizz Winstead, Frank's co-star on the short-lived Oxygen Network series O2Be, and emcee of the 2001 MST3K "reunion" event in New York City, is also on board as program director and has her own show. TWO NEW MIKE INTERVIEWS There are two new interviews with Mike Nelson we'd like to tell you about: 76 Inverted Entertainment has an interview in which Mike discusses his days at MST3K and his work afterwards. MARY JO ON "THE RAKE" In 80 The Rake magazine, Mary Jo Pehl takes a firm stand in favor of people being hired for jobs they never applied for. MST3K COLLECTION NOMINATED FOR SATURN AWARD The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Volumes 2 thru 4 are among the nominations for "Best DVD Collection" at this year's 30th annual 82 Saturn Awards. MARY JO'S BOOK DELAYED 84 Plan Nine Publishing has told us that Mary Jo Pehl's book I Lived With My Parents has been delayed until further notice. As soon as they announce a date, we'll be sure to pass it on. AFV AND JKL The newest season of America's Funniest Home Videos is now airing. Not only is Trace Beaulieu back as a writer, but Josh "J. Elvis" Weinstein has also returned as a consulting producer. And don't forget that Joel Hodgson and his brother Jim are on the staff of the Jimmy Kimmel Live TV show. In addition to being a writer/producer, Joel is a "digital-effects director" doing live visual effects for the show. Jimmy Kimmel Live airs immediately following Nightline on ABC.
