4/3 How do you solve:
        1) summation of 1/n where n = (1 to infinity)
        2) summation of 1/n^2 where n = (1 to infinity)
THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION, THANKS!!!
\_ If you sum from 1 to infinity
instead, the first one, at least, still diverges to infinity.
\_THANKS! How do you solve by induction w/base case?
\_ Is your homework due at 5 PM?
\_ Already due. Actually I'm at work and I don't have my
                   calculus book.
\_ I'm trying to solve the interview question: How do you write a
program that can randomly and evenly pick ANY line in a huge text
file, in one parse, where you have very little memory?

11/12 Server nerds, CCC for mac is totally awesome. is there somethng
as cool and friendly for PC or unix?
\_ Hi. "CCC" is a free mac program known as "Carbon Copy Cloner".
If you use a Mac, and have some sort of external usb or firewire
drive, I recommend you spend 15 minutes downloading it and
setting it up. You can easily make a backup set up your data,

           \_ No, I haven't. I think I will, but I'm not in a huge hurry.

7/21 Translated version of Aristotle's Physics:

\_ This is what the kids should be learnen' in school!
\_ I know you are making a joke, but in many ways Aristotle's
ideas re Physics formed the basis for Newtonian Physics
(iirc Aristotle came up w/ the idea of inertia, &c.) so

\_ So if we discover that Archimedes discovers something before

of the Turing Theorem (or stick in whatever name), we'll have
to call it the Archimedes Theorem?

5/20 I flunked calculus and now I'm struggling in my network class. In
the lecture, the professor says p is the probability that a node in
ethernet sends, N is the number of nodes, and the following is the
        slotted Aloha efficiency:
        N*p*(1-p)^(N-1) = ~1/e = 0.37
I completely understand how he setup the equation, but got lost
