4/21 This administration stole $700mm from Afghan budget to attack Iraq.
The public needs to know about this. Email Hiatt@washpost.com
Tell him to cover the story, and tell him it's front page material.
\_ I don't think this is true, because it would indicate this
           Administration has a clue.
\_ they stole the election, stole from SS and medicare...hmmmmmmm,
sounds like a pattern, but not enough care. So bizness as usual.

9/19 Real (i.e. inflation adjusted) per capita spending in the proposed
2010-11 General Fund budget is nearly the same as in the 1994-95
budget 16 years ago. Real per capita spending did increase during
the <DEAD>dot.com<DEAD> boom and again briefly after 2003 but current per capita
spending is below the recent long-term average.

"A recent report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
showed that nearly all states will spend less on vital services in

are more children in public schools and more poor people on the

\_ We will see. Seems unlikely.
\_ Yeah, because CA sure has a problem with not enough dems in power!

2/20 Ok serious question, NOT political. This is straight up procedural.
Has it been declared that we didn't find WMD in iraq? (think so).
So why did we go into iraq (what was the gain), and if nobody really
knows, why is nobody looking for the reason?
\_ Political stability, military strategy (Iran), and to prevent

8/12 Thanks for destroying the world's finest public University!
        http://tinyurl.com/kr92ob (The Economist)
\_ Why not raise tuition? At private universities, students generate
revenue. Students should not be seen as an expense. UC has
been a tremendous bargain for most of its existence. It's time

3/1 My sister works for the county and pays into CalPERS instead of
Social Security. This year she got a second (private sector) job
which paid more than her government job and paid into Social
Security. Does she have to contribute to both retirement plans?
That seems like a waste. I STFW and cannot find the answer.

6/17 When I first came to California many years ago my advisor invited
me to his house and gave me an advice that I never really thought
about until recently. It was dead simple, and had nothing to do
with what I was studying-- if you ever buy houses in California,
DON'T SELL THEM. Keep them around, because in time, property tax
will be so low that it'll take an act of stupidity to sell them. As
