4/16 So the Air America "bounced check" story turned out be a load of crap.
Drudge is now 0 for 2. Wasn't someone claiming he was "usually right?"
\_ Load of crap? URL? My local communist newspaper has yet to declare
anything but the original AP/Reuters story Drudge linked to. Air
America bounced a check. Where's the update that says otherwise?
\_ http://csua.org/u/6xs (Chicago Tribune article, requires free
              registration)
\_ Yes and they're still off the air in LA because they bounced
the LA check for $1m. Thanks for the URL backing my point.
\_ Thanks for not reading the article very closely.
Multicultural pulled the station for unknown reasons.
The "bounced check" story fell apart under the scrutiny
of the court in Chicago, which is why they were ordered
back on the air there, and it surely will be in Los
                    Angeles.
        \_ He quoted someone, the quote was accurate and he attributed it;
           so what's wrong with that?
\_ He should have followed up, of course.
\_ Very, very early on he had a link to Air America's web site,
where they presented their side of the story.
\_ I never lie. I always quote someone else who does.
\_ How's that Intern story working out for you guys?
\_ You do realize that you're not necessarily looking at a
           representative sample, right?
\_I think someone claimed he had only been wrong once, ever.
\_ Rush Limbaugh repeated the lie:

He told the Chicago Tribune that Air America had bounced a payment check and owed Multicultural more than $1 million. Diamond found Thursday that Air America had fully paid for airtime in Chicago and ordered Multicultural to begin broadcasting Air Americas programming again. Air America remains off the air in Los Angeles, where it had been broadcast on Multiculturals KBLA 1580 AM. A person answering the phone late Thursday at Multicultural said the company had no comment. The dispute between the two companies began Wednesday morning, when Multicultural employees kicked Air America staffers out of the Chicago and Los Angeles stations and began airing Spanish-language programming. But Air America executives said they were withholding payments for the Los Angeles station because Liu had been double-dipping, or reselling airtime that the network had already bought and paid for, prior to the networks launch a little more than two weeks ago. Cohen said late Thursday that Air America is still considering its legal options regarding the Los Angeles station and would be doing something within the next 48 hours. Judge Diamond scheduled a hearing on Monday to get a response from Multicultural. No matter how the dispute is finally resolved, it seems unlikely that Air America will continue to broadcast on Multiculturals stations. The public relations battle became personal very quickly on Wednesday, with Liu accusing the network of insolvency, and Cohen calling Liu disgraceful and unprofessional. Over the next couple of days were both going to be doing a lot of thinking. Cohen said he is exploring other broadcast options with a partner who is more responsible and mature. Senator Kerry has created the Kerry Misery Index to catalogue, quantify, display and illustrate the depths to which theres pain and suffering economically here in the country. Well, I was looking at the Drudge Report during Wednesdays show, and lo and behold, there was a Drudge siren alerting us to an upcoming story in the Chicago Tribune that I think very accurately illustrates what the Kerry misery index and the Democrats complaints about the economy really mean. After just two weeks on the air, Air America Radio, the liberal talk-radio network, appears to have encountered serious cash-flow problems. The CHICAGO TRIBUNE is developing a story, insiders tell DRUDGE, on how the network was pulled off the air this morning in Chicago and Los Angeles, the networks second- and third-largest markets, because, the owner of both stations said the network bounced a check and owes him more than $1 million. The radio stations were talking about here are thousand-watt blow torches in suburban Chicago and suburban Los Angeles. It so happens there is a problem with debt, and that there is a problem with cash flow in certain sectors of the American economy, this new lib radio net being the stellar example of same. Maybe George Soros will see this and ride to the rescue on his black horse.
