JTrek is a real-time text based space combat simulator based in the Star Trek universe. Choose your ship from over 20 classes, among 6 races, to fly and compete against other players on the internet. QUICK START: If you are new to JTrek, you really should read the new player help , located under the documentation link . This will give you a general overview of what you can do to get started. TEAM PLAY: We are entertaining the idea of scheduled team play matches, specifically a capture the flag type match. CLASSIC VESSELS RETURN: Welcome the return of the old school ships. We bring you the Klingon D-10 and the Ferengi vessels from the early days of MTrek. KEYMAP TEMPLATES: You can now store your keymaps for the individual ship classes on the server. When you launch a new ship, it will automatically have those keymaps loaded into it. Log into your player account and click on the Keymap Templates link to take advantage of this feature. RULES SECTION: A new rules section has been added to outline what is not tolerable behaviour in JTrek.
Basically, a player profile will be associated with all ships in the game, and youll be able to login via this web interface and view your fleet, high scores , and other geeky statistics about your ships. DATABASE SWITCH AND SHIP RESET: The relation database move and reset has been completed. NEW SHIP DISCUSSION: We welcome thoughtful commentary regarding the experimental ship classes. We recognize the need for balance within the game, but also want to provide a dynamic environment where things arent necessarily limited to the way they were. As such, introducing any new element to JTrek can potentially destabalize the status quo among ship classes. That is not necessarily a bad thing, unless a new ship class is overwhelmingly destroying the fun of existing classes. THOUGHTFUL comments which give insight into the problems presented by experimental ship classes are beneficial in determining whether a ship should stay or go. The forum is an excellent place for such discussions, and we would encourage anyone who feels strongly about the subject to take the time to communicate their thoughts on the topic there.
