9/25 How does http://friendster.com generate revenue and how does it survive?
\_ They're planning to charge for certain features in a few months.

\_ I'm guessing harvesting e-mail addresses and selling them to
spammers.
\_ Why would you guess that? There is almost no money in it
and doing such a thing would destroy their business.
\_ He would guess that because it makes him sound like
a L33T GN00 L1NUX H4X()R!!!!!11!!!!
\_ why not? once they have everyone's email addresses, who
cares if they continue to run their "business"? As for
money--well, they aren't getting any money NOW, so it's
a step up.
\_ Step three: PROFIT!
\_ What's step two?
\_ You're all wrong. They're now getting VC. They're going to give
themselves huge salaries to suck it dry (there's only about 6 guys
running it and 4 are low paid staff), then retire when it runs out.
I'm not being sarcastic. This is the plan. |
