4/24 Why is soda being retired in ~70 days? What's going to happen
to the physical box?
\_ What? Where did you get that information? Also, soda hasn't
physically existed for like a year or two now.
\_ Hmm, then what does "There are 71 days remaining" mean?
\_ No clue. Some random person having fun. We leave the text blob up
because what reason would we have to interfere and take it down?
\_ this is who we are
\_ "This is who we are."
\_ No clue. Some random person having fun. We leave the text
blob up because what reason would we have to interfere and
take it down?
\_ you know, AWS is so cheap these days, we should just host it
on AWS. Advantage: alumni can handle the sysadm job... it's
hosted outside of Berkeley.
\_ You know, I think the csua should stay inside berkeley. and
not be "amazon campus outreach".
\_ Seattle is nice I hear, how's Amazon paying you these days?
\_ Sweet you should just start up a host and not tell the undergrads.
\_ im not sure you know what you are talking about. Amazon bucket
storage is very cheap. Hosting VMs at Amazon, not cheap.
\_ An alumnus can technically handle the sysadm job now, because our
machines are all virtualized anyway.
\_ Whoa. I had no idea. Who owns/runs the physical hosts?
\_ The VP. Who did you expect?
\_ Sorry, the syntax, "our machines are all virtualized" made
me think that CSUA no longer owned physical machines, just
VMs hosted elsewhere. (Hey, UCB should build a cloud?)
\_ Wow are you in marketing? What other buzzwords do you
recite?
\_ Nothing is stopping you from doing it now, just set up your
AWS and leave. Seriously. Quit bitching and moaning- we are
lucky this exists. Just leave.
\_ WORD. What part of "This is BEAR TERRITORY" does Amazon
Lackey not get?
\_ Seconded. -grateful alum. |
