7/4 I'm accessing soda by typing ssh -X jhcooper@csua.berkeley.edu
at a Linux prompt. At the soda prompt, I can type "xmessage hello &",
and I get a nice little greeting from myself popping up on my display.
But if I type xterm &, the process runs ok, but nothing appears on
my screen. What am I doing wrong?

7/4 Is there a web browser available on soda? My employer has a firewall
blocking some web sites.
\_ How about setting up a web proxy on Soda?

\_ ssh -D 8080 http://soda.berkeley.edu and set firefox to use a socks proxy on
localhost:8080. If you're using putty then googlit, you can do it with that
too. Also consider using other privacy tools like portable firefox, so they
can't look at your history.
\_ how do you run ssh over that proxy (i mean making an ssh
session appear that it's coming from soda, not my workplace)

I wonder what is on Spike right now, maybe "beaches"?
\_ the professional is all about female empowerment by some guy
who doesn't want to put his dick into her, top gun is all for
aging chixx who haven't gotten over their blonde surfer fixation.
Go see Sunshine, it's better than anything Spike has shown recently
or Moon. Although of the two Sunshine is the better comedy. Then
again Moon has Fulcher.
