11/23 Is there any photo rental place near the Fremont or Hayward area where I can rent backdrops and a stand for shooting family portraits? I see that Looking Glass has such rental, but I now live in Fremont. Thx. \_ Can't help you there, but I'm wondering what kind of camera equipments you have? Do you already have the strobes? \_ I don't have strobes, but I have two electronic flashes and two Photogenic Eclipse 45" umbrellas (I wish I had got the 60"). All I need is a backdrop. \_ if you know exactly what you are doing is one thing. If you don't have a clue what kind of strobe \_ ??? |

11/22 Have you guys noticed an absence of car commercials these days? Bahahahahahahaha. -bike loving hippy \_ Are you high? It seemed like there were nothing _but_ car commercials on Monday when I was watching Heroes. \_ Heroes is basically one giant car ad. \_ Rats, I was hoping you'd make "have to be high to understand Heroes" gag. \_ Actually, that would be Knight Rider. \_ Football is all car and truck and beer ads, as usual. |

11/23 Cal's own Christina Romer to head White House Council of Econ Advisors: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081124/pl_nm/us_usa_obama_romer_3 \_ Were there any other Cal people after Randy Katz who served at the White House? \_ Brad DeLong \_ There's an economics dude. I forget his name, but he's been on Daily Show/Colbert Report. Short guy. Beard. \- robert reich came to berkeley after washington. he is a lawyer not an economist. \_ Ug, he really is trying to recreate the clinton whitehouse. Taking a popular cal professor to chair the CEA. Problem is that Laura Tyson >> Christina Romer \- you dont know what you are talking about. i bet harvard is now upset over the Romer Fiasco. \_ Well, you are close to right. I don't know what YOU are talking about. What is the "Romer Fiasco"? As for what i'm talking about: I had both as professors and have read a good deal from both of them and I assure you that Laura Tyson is a far superior Economist. In fact, i'd go so far as to say that she is actually reasonably smart, which is rare in the field. \- compare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina_Romer#Career [which should answer the harvard fiasco question] with all the criticism of LT when appointed to the CEA chair. so far as to say that she is actually reasonably smart, which is rare in the field. \- well maybe you are smarter than "the field" but the "the field" disagrees with you in terms of academic reputation. compare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina_Romer#Career http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/market-movers/2008/05/22/the-romer-harvard-affair [which should answer the harvard fiasco question] with all the criticism of LT when appointed to the CEA chair: http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=whos_bashing_tyson [i've only dealt with LT directly and am pretty familar with her work on japan and "administrative guidance]. i only know CR's work on the depression indirectly. http://www.businessweek.com/archives/1993/b332045.arc.htm [i've only dealt with LT directly and am pretty familar with her work on japan and "administrative guidance"]. i only know CR's work on the Depression indirectly. also your premise that picking a berkeley economist for cea-> recreate the clinton whitehouse suggests you arent to be taken seriously. a better bit of evidence is the presence of LT and RR on the transition team. |

11/23 C++ question: If I have "char *p = new char[10];", is there any real difference between "delete p;" and "delete[] p;" after compilation? The Standard C free() function only has one form and works for freeing both a single character and a character array. Why are there separate forms in C++? Thx. \_ For an array of char, there's no difference. If you have an array of objects, though, delete[] needs to call the destructor for each one. --mconst \_ http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/freestore-mgmt.html#faq-16.13 \_ Thanks to both replies. -- OP |

That's for spending only 5-10 min a night setting up limit orders, and not looking at the ticker or even thinking about it during the day. I could probably make more if I stare at it during the day but that's over my stress limit and will interfere with my real work. -week trader \_ You have to remember that traders like you and I are not 'investors'. I will dump a stock the minute I make my 10% on it. That's not really 'investing'. \_ That's very very true |

11/23 i know the election is over and all, but I want to gloat a TINY bit ok and I'll go away, thanks. here: "I don't know, because I remember the discussion about Africa, my concern has been the atrocities there in Darfur and the relevance to me with that issue, as we spoke about Africa and some of the countries there that were kind of the people succumbing to the dictators and the corruption of some collapsed governments on the continent, the relevance was Alaska's investment in Darfur with some of our permanent fund dollars, I wanted to make sure that that didn't happen anymore." \_ http://cavett.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/14/the-wild-wordsmith-of-wasilla \_ Palin is awesome. She got the first black man elected President of the freakin' UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I salute you, Sarah Palin. No, really, it couldn't have happened without you. Now I wish you would go back into obscurity. ok I'm done gloating. |
