9/6 Haven't heard Iraq news lately. Does that mean we're defeating
        Al Qaeda?
\_ My theory, seriously, is that the Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq are
busy bombing the shit out of each other in shops and mosques,
and only occasionally harming US soldiers that happen to be in the
way, so Iraq hasn't been in the news so much.
\_ No, we are losing the war in Iraq and parts of Pakistan, a nuclear
armed state, are already lost to them. We are fighting the
           wrong war.

9/7 U.S. taxpayer put on hook for junk stuffed in FNM/FRE/FHLBs.
Cost likely to exceed $500B over next couple years: "In the end, the
ultimate cost to the taxpayer will depend on the business results of
the GSEs going forward" - Hank Paulson

\_ Thanks Republicans! Deregulation sure had worked out great!
\_ Thanks Republicans! The deregulation thing is working out really
           well.
\_ Get ready for FOUR MORE YEAR.
\_ Wrong. There's been a dedicated regulator created just for these guys
since early 90s, and it has always done a terrible job. Fannie, et al have
great lobbyists. Repubs have been fighting to cut them loose and
completely privatize, while Dems defend them because they help
subsidize loans to lower income people.
\_ The article says Treasury will put up up to $200B. Where does it say $500B?
\_ Wrong. There's been a dedicated regulator created just for these

because they help subsidize loans to lower income people.
              \_ But but Bush sucks!
\_ An interesting way to put it; another way might be to say that
the Dems are supporting the dream of home ownership, while
the GOP want to cripple the govt. by privatizing any
                 successful programs.
\_ Didn't Bush just nationalize them? It is true that F&F have
given generously to both parties over the years, but the GOP
could have easily killed them when they controlled both house
of Congress and the White House, but they didn't. Instead they
let the IBs run wild with SIVs and GSEs and derivatives and
                 ignore their capital requirements.

9/7 Dear Linux DNS experts, how do you find out if a domain has
published SPF records? Is there a magic command like hostname,
nslookup, etc that does this? I'm a UNIX noob. Thanks!

9/7 I want to learn Design Patterns without having to buy the famous
book. Is there a place online where I can learn and study it?

9/7 Why does it keep getting deleted? Cuz you're a FUCKER. Now FUCK OFF.
Fucking dumb ass shit from http://politico.com, same shit as GWB and
FoxNews and freerepublic. If you're going to post a link, say
something insightful or entertaining or FUCK OFF. Let me say this
again. Motd is not free republic ok? Go ahead and keep trying mother
fucker. If I find out who you are, I will track you down and break
your fucking legs. SHIT I forgot to take my anti-depressant for
a week. I should go back to talk therapy.
\_ This is sufficiently fucked up that I'm tempted to start
reposting the politico link myself. -niloc
\_ That's true, the motd has some crazy people.
\_ can insanity be a basis for squishage, please?
\_ it's probably kchang, who has been squished for insanity
                 before.
\_ Wait, you're saying that Politico is a right-wing source?
\_ I may consider formally asking root to investigate this post,
because of the bodily threat. Are you serious?
\_ There is someone on the MOTD with some really deep issues,
even compared to the normal people on MOTD with issues, and it's
              disturbing.

9/7 Palin agrees to interviews, so long as she is treated with
        "respect and deference"
        http://preview.tinyurl.com/6lsv92
\_ Because ANY evidence of inconsistency automatically rules
him out as Presidency-worthy, no matter how trivial,
because he's a Democrat. If he were a republican, he
could disappear for an entire war and not be suspected
of any wrongdoing. Or, he could receive family patronage
assuring him of a good military career, and that would
              be completely fine, too.
        \_ Sounds like Obama
\_ In Obama's case he has to be treated with "obeisance"
\_ Putin will say mean things to her when McCain dies, making her
           cry
\_ Hi, no. Thanks. The interview will be a farce. It's been
arranged essentially like a celebrity interview:
