6/30 Does the average tech worker in SV really make $144k/yr???
        http://preview.tinyurl.com/5atgq6 (Business Week)
\_ Average is meaningless. Median is the statistic that you should
           care about.
\_ The smaller headline reads "And with the number of tech grads
falling, demand will only rise". The author never took Econ 1.
\_ The comments to the article don't seem to agree with the article.
\_ Is this because all the tech workers who made less were sufficiently
replaceable that their jobs were outsourced out of SV?

7/1 So I'm in NYC now and I've been walking or taking a cab. I wish I
hadn't returned my rental car, because driving here was so easy
(I drove the first day), especially compared to Boston. Streets are
laid out in a grid and traffic isn't so bad. I won't use mass transit
at all here. I am rethinking my take on mass transit. Before I thought
it only worked in dense cities. Now I don't think it's really needed
anywhere. BTW, in Boston I had the experience of being kicked off
the T for not having a ticket, but the station I was at didn't
sell tickets. Talk about Catch 22. That was the Fine Arts station,
which tourists like me presumably use. Mass transit is so user
        friendly and easy to use.
\_ Now you are just trolling.
\_ You win the high on crack award.
        \_ I think you're just plain stupid. "Now I don't think it's really
needed anywhere." - Traffic in NYC is bad enough with the number
of people that drive right now. If NYC didn't have mass transit
           it'd be ten times worse.
\_ And more so in Tokyo and Hong Kong. -- !OP
\_ Or maybe there wouldn't be so many people crammed together
and they'd be happier for it. The worst problem with driving
in NYC is the cost of parking. I really do wish I had kept
my rental car, though. My independence is limited without it
and everyone talks about scary NYC driving but that's a myth
perpetuated by, presumably, tourists who live in small towns.
\_ Yeah everyone who lives in cities would be happier if they
just spread out, we understand your (bizarre) worldview.
It is actually quite doable to drive in NYC, I have done
it as well, but after a while you realize that you are
annoying all the cabbies. The only reason you can get
away with driving in lower manhatten is because almost
everyone on the road is a professional driver and they
make allowances for you. Just don't hit a bicyclist.

We should have all of these things just like the good old west.
\_ Ha ha! The 2nd ammendment protects the right to bear
arms. It does not promote whoremongering, stupidity,
                   and perversion.
\_ And remember, kids, Scalia's Opinion opined as to the
nature of modern arms, so if we ever go to phazers set
to stun, your projectile weapon stops being a right.

6/30 That Wesley Clark, class act right there.
        http://www.politicususa.com/en/Clark-FTN
\_ How was Clark questioning McCain's record? In what way was this
           "swift boating?"
\_ It wasn't. The right is just filled with Righteous Anger with
              nowhere to focus it.
\_ It's not a "swift boat" because it's so stupid it will never
                 stick.
\_ It's not a swift boat because it isn't someone lieing
about McCain's record. If it was a switft boat Clark
would be claiming that there is a serious allegation
that McCain actually intentionally crashed his plane
and then just hid in a bunker for umpty whatever years
and was never actually a POW in the first place. Instead
what you have is Clark making the very sane point that
being a POW doesn't count as experiance towards being
president. (Re: Kerry. I never thought that being
a war hero would make someone a good president (or a
bad one) but the swift boaters were lieing in order to
cast doubt on if Kerry actually WAS a war hero, not
asking "does it matter if he was a war hero?")
\_ Did McCain really lose five planes in Vietnam?
\_ When is McCain going to sign his SF-180? What does he have to hide?

Please explain to me why Mugabe doesn't get arrested as soon as he
        leaves Zimbabwe?
\_ Does he leave? Does he leave to go to countries that have the
political power and will to arrest him? Does he leave to got o
countries with the political power and will to arrest them who
haven't given their word not to arrest him?
\_ He just arrived in Egypt for an African Union meeting.
\_ If you have an African Union meeting and you arrest the leaders
who go there it isn't going to be very Unionious for long.
\_ Hey: "he was elected, he took an oath, and he is here with us, so
he is president". What's your problem, huh?

\_ I use it to SAVE SPACE but it does TAKE TIME to put it on.
You're trading TIME for SPACE. Nothing comes for free. If space
is a PREMIUM like my little apartment, this is a really great
thing to have. By the way, I commend you for riding bicycle
to reduce our carbon footprint. Moving 200 pounds instead of
3000 pounds reduces pollution and our dependency on foreign
oil. Kudos to you! Lastly, how do you CCW when biking to/from
           work?
\_ I've just been hanging it from the front wheel via a big hook. Is
           that bad?
\_ It is if you leave it like that for any amount of time.
\_ How long is "any amount"?
\_ Dunno. But I left a bike like that for a few months and
it totally deformed the front wheel.
\_ Huh, I left it that was for months and... the wheel was
still deformed. I guess it's hard to tell when your
wheels are already way out of true.
\_ Hanging your bike by a hook shouldn't throw the wheel
out of true, if there's a reasonable amount of tension
                     in the wheel. -tom
\_ It was a pretty shitty bike. Shrug. Now I just
avoid hanging my bike by a hook.
\_ I've hung lots of bikes by two hooks and never
had a problem. I could imagine if you have a
really heavy bike then hanging off one wheel
may not be a good idea. Two should work, if the
bike doesn't deform itself just riding around
under its own + your weight already.

6/30 motd not getting laid guy here. girlfriend is out of town for a few
weeks so i invited hot chick to stay with me for a bit. she's on her
period, so it's just been blowjoys in the morning, blowjobs in the
afternoon, blowjobs before i fall asleep. its a little annoying. i
have to go work early in the morning, lately we have been doing the
pair programming thing. i am absolutely useless now since i can barely
keep my eyes open. my agile partner must really hate me. now
i never get enough sleep, i am really mellow all day, and im
thinking about taking up drinking coffee all of the time to
        compensate.

kept trying to have sex with me at 5am but all I wanted to do
              is sleep. so tiresome.
