6/27 Former Gitmo detainee turns into truck bomber
        http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2008/06/released_guantanamo.php
        \_ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdallah_Saleh_Ali_Al_Ajmi
Way to go, Bush Administration. You couldn't do this properly, so
you ended up handing him back to the Kuwaitis, and then they
released him because you used illegit methods at Gitmo.
\_ So the Bush admin made this guy into a truck bomber?
\_ Of course not. The guy was already a truck bomber. The Bush
admin screwed up his incarceration and neglected to gather
evidence so that he could be thrown into SuperMax for life.
Rather than face up to their mistakes, they turned him over
to our allies, the Kuwaitis, and public opinion in the
Middle East has gone against the US so badly that a Kuwaiti
jury acquitted the guy. Now do you see how badly the Bush
admin has screwed our country over? Cf. Willy Horton

        http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/96295
Among all Windows versions, is XP one of the most sucessful ones? The
other one I can think of might be 3.1.
\_ 2000 was pretty damn good too.
\_ Win95? It ran the most games. XP seems better than Win2k to me, but
only b/c Win2k had trouble with some games.
\_ Win2k had no trouble with non dos games, which by then were
getting pretty rare. (and it worked pretty well with older
games.) What 2k did give was a decent, fairly stable, os that
had real processes and memory protection. 95 was still a
              really fancy dos shell.

6/27 HOLY SHIT!!!!!
You CANNOT make this stuff up.
Senators Larry "bathroom toe tapper" Craig (R-Naturally) and
David "DC Madam Client" Vitter (R-Obviously) have co-sponsored
the "Marriage Protection Amendment" that would rewrite the US
Constitution to make only marriage between a man and a woman legal.
        http://tinyurl.com/57buat
\_ Well in Craig's case, the modivation is pretty obvious. If all
the gay's get married, who is he gonna pick up in airport
           bathrooms? -R
\_ The provision does allow for marriages conducted in Minnesota
airport bathrooms to be legal, regardless of the sex of the
           participants.

6/27 the girl is visiting me and she called ahead and asked me if I had
a pair of hair clippers. Why would she ask such a thing? we didn't
agree to a suicide pact where I shave her head. also why is it
        a 'pair' of clippers anyway?
\_ I assume she means electric buzz clippers. No idea why it's a pair,
but since 'clippers' is plural it must be either a pair or a set.
\_ "A pair of scissors". My guess is that it was for historical
reason. Maybe first there was some tool call "scissor" which had
one blade. Then someone invented scissors by putting two blades
together, hence "a pair of scissors". Then someone invented
clippers. Even though there was no "clipper" origin, people still
called it "a pair" because it worked like scissors. Anyway that's
           only my wild guess.
\_ I don't say "pair of hair clippers" I say "a hair clippers".
Yes it looks stupid when I read it, but that's what I think
most people say. Also a pair of scissors is two scissor blades.
Look at a pair of cooking scissors. They will often be easilly
seperated into two blades for cleaning/sharpening purposes.

6/27 In a blistering condemnation of President Bush's willingness to go to
the wall for corporations he relies on to spy on Americans, MSNBC host
Keith Olbermann says the president's message in his State of the Union
address calling for immunity of telecommunications companies is a
        "textbook example of fascism."

Obama votes for FISA bill with immunity of telcoms.

        Yesterday, Olbermann says:
"Senator Obama also refusing to cower even to the left on the subject
of warrantless wiretapping. He's planning to vote for the FISA
compromise legislation, putting him at odds with members of his own

6/27 Milton Friedman still ticking lefties off even from the grave
        http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun/2008/06/milton-friedm-1.html

My personal view on this whole affair is: what a knee jerk reaction!
Obviously, all these lefties do not seem to realize that
Milton Friedman's pro-free market views have become mainstream economic
thinking. Read his "Capitalism and Freedom" and compare it with
any freshman economics textbooks used virtually at any school, from
community colleges to private universities. There is no difference.
I read his text after being exposed to economics in college and, having
heard so much about the author before, I was actually quite surprised
how balanced, carefully thought out, and predominantly non-partisan
his views were. It actually gets quite boring after the second or
third chapter because you realize that it mostly echoes your
        principles of economics textbook.
