9/8 US Open is today. Who are you rooting for, Federer or Davydenko?
\_ Swiss guys are assholes and Swiss gals are bitches. Fuck them
all. Go Davydenko, whatever your nationality is. |

9/8 I summon: emarkp !
remember the heroic border patrol agents who shot the drug
dealer in the butt as her was running away? You can read
facts about the case here:
http://www.texasmonthly.com/2007-09-01/feature2-1.php
http://xrl.us/5qum
\_ My predicted response from emarkp:
"I don't respond to anonymous cowards."
\_ I think that is tom's mo, not emarkp
\_ I may be anonymous, but I would be interested in hearing
a self described conservative's opinion on the whole case.
Notice I'm not asking him his opinion on Mormon bathed
in blood axe murders or if he got a good deal on golden
plates at the last Wal-Mart sale. Not trolling, just
asking!
\_ Based on historical records, there is a 92% chance
that he'll respond with "Hi anonymous troll! -emarkp"
\_ Why should he respond to someone calling him out?
He has no responsibility. If you really want to chat
seriously with him, send him email.
\_ Typically I don't like responding to anonymous people
calling me out by name. However, I've been fairly
strongly opinionated on this topic so my response is
below. -emarkp
\_ my opinion: they missed and should have been aiming about 18"
higher. -not emarkp anonymous coward
\_ I'll take a look at it, but I've already read a substantial portion
of the trial transcripts. -emarkp
\_ Okay, I've read the first paragraph and it's full of crap. Ramos
said in his own testimony that he reported the shooting over the
radio. Yet the article says, "Neither agent announced the
shooting over the radio or informed his supervisor of what had
happened; the official report about the pursuit made no mention
of their firing their weapons."
Oops. Bad reporting. -emarkp
\_ More bad reporting:
"The bullet was removed by Army doctors at Fort Bliss, and
ballistics tests showed that it had been fired from Ramos.s
handgun, which investigators had taken under the guise of
performing a firearms audit. That night, federal agents arrested
Ramos and Compean at their homes on assault charges."
The bullet was fragmented. They couldn't match the agent's gun.
-emarkp
\_ http://www.csua.org/u/jh4
"In truth, defense attorneys ---- and Ramos himself ----
signed a document agreeing that the bullet came from
Ramos' gun."
Is that true?
\_ He should have used a shotgun.
\_ I'm not aware of that one. However this *does* contradict
the claim by the other article that the bullet was matched.

avoid VW altogether (due to previous VW bashing on motd)? |

9/8 Bitter Sexless Guy here. I was out last night with the internet
illuminati, and he said he bought an iphone when it first came out
for $600, and then amex price protection is giving him $200
because of the recent price drop, and Apple is giving him $100
in credit, so now he's pretty happy with his $300 iphone.
\_ Have you looked into SSRI? I'm on my 300th day without sex
and still feel alright!
\_ The problem for me is the cost of the service and not the cost
of the phone. |

9/8 John Edwards calls upon world to join us in fight against terrorism
saying you're either with us or against us:
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070907/D8RGM0R00.html
\_ Can't wait to vote for Obama in the Primaries.
\_ Imagine the gall of the guy, actually trying to engage our allies.
Wouldn't we have better luck if we called them Cheese Eating
Surrender Monkeys and renamed fried potatoes Freedom Fries?
\_ You didn't RTA. He is doing no such thing. Read his quotes,
not the "journalist's" description of it. You join us and
follow our rules or you're with the terrorists. Your second
sentence is just noise. Not even Bush has called anyone that.
\_ Once again, your reading skills are subpar:
"Those nations who refuse to join will be called out before
the world."
Explain to me how you get "you're with the terrorists" from
this. At worst, I see a vagueness in what will happen to
nations that refuse to join. -!pp
\_ On 11 March 2003, Representatives Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) and
Walter B. Jones, Jr. (R-North Carolina) declared that all
references to French fries and French toast on the menus of
the restaurants and snack bars run by the House of
Representatives would be removed. House cafeterias were
ordered to rename French fries as "freedom fries". |

9/8 What are some of the most useful but uncommon vi commands you
didn't know about for a while till recently? I'll start:
"cw" (change word) instead of "x x ... x x i"
\_ You can combine nearly all action commands with motion commands. So
"dw" is delete word, etc. Check out "inner word" (diw), p for
paragraph. Or if you're using Vim, just do ":help motion"
\_ mine is this: :q! <cr> followed by: emacs $filename |
