Costco gas. Anyone noticed this? |

3/29 http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000781.html Coding Horror, Programming and human factors by Jeff Atwood. \_ An interesting link from that page, a test to seperate out people who can never learn to program. With serious scientific paper. http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000635.html \_ I love this: "To write a computer program you have to ... accept that whatever you might want the program to mean, the machine will blindly follow its meaningless rules and come to some meaningless conclusion." |

3/31 is mail working? no new mailing coming in.
\_ i like it when I delete mail, then it comes back like i didn't
do anything
\_ I believe soda thinks that the mail is on a read-only FS.
\_ Actually, mead seems to have it mounted read-only. And it
looks like they're trying to move it to maildirs, and failing.
\_ According to dans, you should now run a cost/benefit analysis
and submit it to the politburo so they can consider whether to
view lack of email as a problem. -tom
\_ I will be be bringing up whether you are good for and a danger
to the CSUA at the next Politburo meeting. I asked you not to
speak about me. Now you have gone too far. -dans
\_ Who knew annoying dans was a squishable offense?
\_ Tom must be taught a lesson!
\_ Tom must be taught a lesson! -dans
\_ Strength through ignorance!
view lack of email as a problem. And psb, stop impersonating
other people on the MOTD. -tom
\_ would 2 snickers bars do?
\_ not for me. so sad. |

3/38 Out of 69 senate votes on the war, Clinton and Obama differ on only
one vote, the confirmation of Casey:
http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2007/mar/29/comparison_of_hillary_and_obama_votes_on_iraq
\_ I am going to vote for the one that pisses off the most Republicans.
\_ I am going to vote for the one that pisses off the most Freepers.
\_ I'm pretty sure that would be Clinton.
\_ Or (shockingly) you could vote for who you honestly think would
be the best President for the country.... |

\_ Totally, Lego Star Wars (I and II) were excellent games.

players in my stereos died after playing CDRs. Maybe it's just because
they were really old though (like a decade old) |

3/30 \_ I've been in CSUA for roughly 14 years, and during most of that
time (13 yrs) it has been a stable environment. It's only been the
past year or so where it's been having a bunch of issues. Is there any
reason why now? Did CSUA lose funding? Admin Support? Or something
that drove it into the unstable environment it is today? I know it's
been a quasi-volunteer effort, so I appreciate the attention it has been
given, but did the volunteerism just fall-off the past year?
Not trolling, seriously wondering. |

3/30 Oh yeah, that was definitely written by an English-speaker:
http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=10654
\_ "To British People"
\_ You never know, she might have gone to public school...
\_ William Shatner does the best cover of this.
\_ Heh, you are aware of the difference in meaning for the
term "public school" between Britian and England?
\_ I guess not, what is the difference between a public school
in Britian and one in England?
term "public school" between Britian and America?
\_ I am now. Looked it up.
\_ Reminds me of the opening paragraph of "Family Romance."

\_ soda moved to a linux box
\_ That's a symptom, not a cause.
\_ too many new hot cs girls? no time to be a geek
\_ too many mmorpgs, no time to be a unix geek. Seriously, in
recent years I've noticed that fresh grads are far less
interested/knowledgeable about unix than in the late 90s
and early 2000s. Even the ones who run Linux are way to
dependent on guis and point and click. I think that the
world has moved on and we crusty old geezers have been
left behind.
\_ Great, this week I've been called a "crusty old geezer" and
bought a walkman I used at Cal that is titled "vintage" on
eBay.

\_ On my 31st birthday I was asked how it felt to be
a member of the AARP by an undergrad. It was ment
as a joke, but still being around kids who were
barely alive when 4.4BSD was released makes one
feel OLD. I wonder what it will feel like when
they start playing U2 on the "oldies" stations. |
