5/19 My mouse finger is hurting like hell. I'm thinking about buying a 3M
Ergonomic Mouse from http://Amazon.com but it'll take at least a week for
it to arrive. In the mean time, are there shareware/freeware that
I can install to map one of the unused keys on my keyboard
like shift or something, to simulate a mouse click? It'll really
save my job in the mean time. Thanks so much.
\_ If you use Windows, you could just enable mousekeys. Or you
might want to look into AutoHotkey.
\_ If you are injured then simply switching to a different device is
not going to help. You need to change the way you work, do
stretching, take breaks, and baby that hand until you recover. If
           you recover.
\_ switch your mouse to the other hand until the new one arrives.
There will be some adjustment period, but not as much as you think.
Also consider your desk arrangement... maybe there's something else
that's contributing to the problem, like your mouse position or the
height of your chair. I agree with the above poster that you
probably need to do more than just switch devices... my old boss
used to switch hands every other week, and found that kept either
           of them from developing problems.
\_ Is it from clicking, or mouse wheel scrolling?
\_ Before you do anything, you should consult our noted local expert
on typing and mousing injuries, williamc, so you can find out
whether you're imagining the problem, or just trying to get out
           of work.
           Or, you could look at

5/19 I need a simple plug-in 128-bit (or so) C encryption library.
Semmetric key is easiest, but public key is ok if that's the only
thing I can get. Any ideas?
        \_ symmetric
thing I can get. Any ideas?

\_ Thanks, I'm checking it out.

5/20 Okay, now that finals are over, back to controversy.
So our current robots.txt does a good job of keeping Google off
lwall and stats -- so I've added wallrss.cgi to that list, and
reenabled wallrss.cgi for all your Walling fun, sans Google
        indexing.
        --michener
\_ Can you please add suexec to cgi-bin?
        \_ what web stats? where? I can't read /var/log/apache/access.log

5/20 Is there a format that's a "cross" between a wordprocessor
(e.g. Word) and LaTeX? I want something that's higher quality
than Word but a little easier to work with than LaTeX.
        Thanks.
\_ lyx? gui frontend to LaTeX
        \_ You might like TeXMacs http://www.texmacs.org .
\_ i really like lyx. its very nice

5/20 Are you tall and skinny and have long fingers? You may be at risk
for having the Marfan Syndrome and may develop problems that
cause you to age and die prematurely. Check out the symptoms
to see if you have the Marfan Syndrome.
\_ Why are you so worried about Marfan's all of a sudden? why not
post a similar entry about other disease entities?
           \_ Because I think I have it though I haven't seen a doctor yet.
I fit in the profile, AND I have very loose joints. In fact
I've dislocated both of my shoulders and my joints hurt
a lot especially my mouse finger and emacs pinkies. I am
afraid of finding out that I actually do have Marfan, or
maybe I'm just over-reacting, and in fact based on my
past experience with the medical community and from what I've
heard, I think they'll probably just ignore me and think that
I'm just over-reacting. So, until I have serious problems,
I think I'll just ignore my symptoms. BTW, erikred, what
exactly is the connective tissue disorder? -op
\_ OP, please email me. I would happy to discuss this further.
                 --erikred
\_ I was clinically diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome back in '84.
Recent genetic testing (and a refinement of the clinical
criteria needed to make a clinical diagnosis) reveals that I do not,
in fact, have Marfan Syndrome. I may have some sort of connective
tissue disorder, but it's not Marfan Syndrome. My point? Get a
           genetic test. --erikred
\_ How tall are you, if you don't mind me asking? -pp
                   \_ Seven feet.

5/20 Japanese Balloon bombs against the US
        http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=932
        \_ So? Decades-old news?
           \_ It's called history.
\_ So? You don't see people posting articles about
the Civil War to the motd.
\_ If you think that's interesting, look up the sub-launched air
raids against the West Coast. -John
\_ How many American civilians did the Japs kill? Not that many
compared to what we did to them. Now let me ask you, what about
your people, John? The Swiss kept Nazi money safe for Nazi
members many who fled to safe havens in South America. The
Swiss people are mercenaries. You just need to give them lots
of money and they'll do whatever it is you want them to do,
without any consideration to moral values. Heil Nazi Loving
Shameless Swiss John, and fuck the Swiss.
\_ The Swiss are the descendants of the Templars, who brought
                 them the modern banking system.
\_ This kind of stupidity makes me wonder why I bother with
                 the motd anymore.
\_ I was starting to worry about my troll farm since I
stopped baiting chicom troll and heil cherman john guy.
I'm glad at least their legacy lives on. -John
\_ Is it really so hard to avoid using racial slurs?
Is "Japanese" that hard to type? Thanks.
\_ It's amusing how this troll seems to be guilty of many
of the attitudes that he ascribes to John.
