12/9 Does anybody have a bunch of spam (sent to a soda address) I can feed
to my Bayes spamassassin routine? -- ulysses
        \_ /csua/tmp/mail/scotsman/spam.*
        \_ /csua/tmp/scotsman/mail/spam.*
           Tons... --scotsman
           \_ directory does not exist?
              \_ fixed.
\_ wow, thanks! (LOTS of spam indeed!!!)
\_ I remember the good old days when most/all of my spams were
filtered. Nowadays, I get an average of of 20+ spams a day. :(
\_ The server runs on has a combination of a few (fairly
conservative) blacklists, Postfix with greylisting, and rate
limiting for inbounds coming from any given IP (really harsh
limits set for any APNIC IP.) The spams are kept to a tiny
minimum, especially after greylisting and setting a 2/second
limit for the Asian addresses. -John
\_ Got a pointer as to how to set this up???
\_ What do you mean by "set this up". What do you wish to do?
              -- ulysses
\_ Someone set us up the spam!
\_ I want to enable bayesian filtering on my mail spool.
\_ Oh...The short version is, if you are using SA, it already
is unless you've turned it off in your userprefs. SA
requires training on a minimum 200 hams & 200 spams before
it will begin adding Bayes-based scores, though. You can
adjust these minima in the userprefs. Email me if you
want to here more or google for sa-learn. -- ulysses

12/9 I'm bored.
        \_ Find a place to do your thrice-daily jacking-off
                                        \_ Impressive.
\_ You just have to space 'em out
over the day. 3 is easy!
\_ who are you who are so wise in
                                               the ways of Masturbation?
\_ Geez. Just post a troll and get it over with.
\_ has someone written a troll generator yet?

12/9 Anyone have the Dell 2005FPW 20.1-inch Wide screen? How is it?
        \_ I don't know, but I'm ordering one right now for $600
\_ Did you get the 25% coupon off? is the $600 after everything?
I am looking for a 25% off coupon to get mine...
\_ No, right now they are all 20% off already, then there
was another coupon that took it down to something like $594

12/9 Okay bored guy, here you go. Here's a really cool bit of web browser
hacking. Works in FireFox. Will only work in IE if you have ActiveX
enabled, but it doesn't use ActiveX. Stupid microsoft just disables
        XMLHTTP when ActiveX is disabled.
\_ Ass. It starts over the word halfway through typing it.
\_ Not for me. Which browser are you using? I'm on Firefox 1.0
\_ Works for me. Which browser are you using? I'm on Firefox 1.0
              \_ Mozilla OS 9, b/c Firefox doesn't support OS 9

12/10 Has anyone worked for Deloitte as a system analyst? What's the
best and and worst thing about working there?
\_ How much does that job pay?
\_ I'm not an analyst, so I don't know exactly how much they
are making, they don't publish the salaries internally.
Though I can estimate based on a Manager's salary. For a first
year Systems Analyst (Consultant) it would probably be
\_ What about for a person with 10 years experience?
\_ With 10yrs and assuming Managerial experience you
may be able to come in as a Manager which means
\_ why do you guys always care about pay? yes it's
important, but an enjoyable job far outweighs a good
                   salary. !op
\_ Because you can ask for and get a reasonably helpful
answer on the motd-- quality of life, enjoyability,
etc ratings are harder to come by.
\_ It's called "living in the bay area"
\_ IT'S NOT A HOUSING BUBBLE!!!! PRICES ARE TOTALLY
REASONABLE!!!! IF YOU WONT PAY 700,000 DOLLARS
BAY 45 MINUTES FROM ANYTHING YOU ARE JUST LAZY!!!
\_ Bitter that you didn't get in while you
                            still could?
\_ OF COURSE I'M BITTER!!!! OBVIOUSLY ANYONE WHO
DOESN'T LIVE IN THE BAY AREA IS BITTER AND
\_ true but I'm assuming the op has viable alternatives.
\_ I am interested in what other companies pay. This is
very important in terms of career growth and options.
Obviously, the job has to be enjoyable, but it has
to pay well, too. Otherwise, forget it. Yes, I want
                      it all. Don't you?
\_ Though job satisfaction is important, you can't eat it or
buy a house with it. If I wanted a cool job with no pay,
I could do that at home.
                      \_ "Hell, you don't nee a million dollars to do that, man;
take a look at my cousin. He's broke, don't do shit."
\_ Not an answer to your question, but my one experience with them
was bad bordering on hilarious. Of course that was D&T UK. -John
\_ I've been with Deloitte for 7 years, 5 in the Systems group
(ERS). I think it's a great company, though certainly not my
           dream job.
           + Stable job
+ Meet a lot of different people
           + Work with different Managers
+ Reasonable pay, fluctuates with market
+ Learn about different computer environments
           + Travel 10-30% (Hawaii)
           - Long hours parts of the year
           - Auditing clients generally not well received
\_ DT guys breathed down our IT department's neck
so much, they got the CIO fired.
\_ Whoops, was that your CIO? ;)
\_ Here they did their share of destroying a ~$500 million
e-banking project, were raided by immigration services
several times for using contractors without valid permits
(thereby losing ca. half their effective workforce each
time), designed a platform around AS400 (this in 1999) only
to realize 75% through the deployment that their key
component didn't run on AS400, and ended up being sued for
gross incompetence and negligence by the client. It was
classic big IT consulting firm. -John
           - Slow to adjust pay to Market
           - Travel 10-30% (Idaho)

\_ In other news, oral sex performed my nurses on adult males show
profound calming effect before anesthesia takes over.
\_ I will do my part for science and volunteer for that study.

\_ Versus what? An analog camcorder, no camcorder, or a digital camera
           with video function?
           \_ vs. no camcorder
           \_ vs. this week's groceries
