11/27 The Thin Red Line, WORST WAR MOVIE EVER. Imagine watching Saving Private Ryan where this guy is bored and disillusioned and complains and bitches and moans for three hours while he reminesce about his wife and all the while the director's trying to mix war scenes with artsy fartsy crap. 3 FUCKING HOURS. This movie wins the Motd's Lamest Movie of the year award. \_ There's no accounting for taste. \_ It's not a war movie. It's an art film, made to look like a war movie by a director far too long out of practice. |

11/26 I am new to file sharing, so here is a dumb question. Does the use of p2p program protects the client more than direct http/ftp download? \_ Depends on what you mean by "protect"--your security against exploits/trojans? Anonymity? -John |

11/27 What do you guys think about this whole basketball player/fan incident? Is it the player's fault? Or the fans? \_ Idiot. |

11/27 What's the purpose of having/requesting the three-digit "security code" on the back of credit cards? I don't see how it makes transactions more secure; anyone tapping into a phone call or computer network can pick up that number as easily as the CC# itself and expiration date. \_ It does prevent dumpster divers (aka, employees) from taking all the necessary information off of the carbon copy. In stores, you are never asked for the extra 3 digits, as they can see you have the card, but online, it is supposed to prove that you are holding the card. But, if you can monitor the communications, you can do anything you want. |

11/27 There will be no discussion of the dollar's collapse, casualties in Iraq, the soon to be cancelled election, or anything else that might reflect unfavourably on Our Glorious Leader. \_ Ah, the liberal commentators have reared their ugly heads. How does it feel to be continuously losing, out of power, and basically wrong? And what hath happened to thine cries for emigration my faithful liberal? Useful idiots indeed! \_ hey motd economists: I've been puzzling over the difference between "tax and spend liberals" and "deficit spending republicans" since I realized the dollar did this during Reagan's tenure as well. What differences are there between taxing citizens and siphoning value out of the US economy to fund government activity (besides the marketing appeal of claiming to not tax)? This is a serious question because I don't claim to understand the global market dynamics. |

This only after he realized they could win votes did he decide to stop kicking them out of the White House. |
