I thought this guy was booked for spying. Not enough evidence? Next
week he's going to be charged with spitting in public.
\_ Because to charge him with espionage they'd have to reveal in
public what it was he was stealing which defeats the purpose of
charging him with espionage and trying to keep secrets in the
first place. Are you naive or just intenionally ignorant?

\_ The more Americans die, the better it is because the sooner they'll

I later tried a consumer program. it sucked, unistalled, returned it.

\_ maybe one of those special radiation-hardened ones like they used
           in some nasa spacecraft.
\_ I don't think it costs $53,000 to harden a chip for radiation.
\_ It takes about $5 worth of lead, maybe $50 to manufacture the
                 specific casing, air vents, etc....
\_ and how much r&d and testing to manufacture a small number
of chips for non-commercial purposes? Yeah, you're right,
each chip should be retail price+$55+$8 s/h. Nerds....
\_ Why do you think the sale price of an item illegal to export
would be even close to the manufacturing cost?
\_ On the other hand, wasn't our own military buying $15,000
                    toilets during the Reagan '80s?
\_ Yeah, but they were radiation-hardened toilets.
\_ Yes, some during the Reagan era when a Reagan era audit
uncovered the problem going back through the Carter era,
but it makes the joke better if you leave out the truth.
                       \_ Source?
\_ I'm old enough to remember. Find your own
links if you're not. It isn't history to me.
\_ Ah, so you have none and are basically just
spewing nonsense. Thanks for clarifying that!
\_ I don't have a link that says Nixon resigned
either or that the hostage crisis happened
during Carter's time but I remember those,
too. Must be that they didn't happen. Or
we could apply logic and figure out that
gross abuses of budgets don't spring up
over night, it takes years for that sort of
government stupidity to fester and then
see that it had to have been going on. Hmm.
You're right. Before the web and urls there
was nothing. Time didn't exist. There was
no web at the time so anything talking about
that time can't have happened. Thanks for
                                   clarifying. History didn't start until
Netscape, right? Here, try this although
I know you'll just dismiss the source since
it's only the President saying it:
                http://www.reagan.utexas.edu/resource/speeches/1986/21086d.htm
\_ Thanks for the link. And I didn't ask
for a URL, I asked for a source which
                                      you've finally provided.
                                   Netscape, right?
                                   \_ Thanks for the link.
\_ In my day, we had to walk 6 miles barefoot
through the snow, uphill, to find out about
                                government waste!

11/26 Given that most ebay transactions I see assume a paypal transaction
is one basically writing off ebay transactions if one is too leery of
PayPal's Terms of Service to use them? I can imagine a rule of thumb to
the effect of: "Use paypal for no larger an amount than you are willing
to simply kiss away to bad luck." IMHO http://paypalsucks.org does not address
        this issue very well.
\_ I see very few eBay sellers who require PayPal only. You can always
mail a check or money order, although it is slower.
\_ know of any alternatives for free low-volume fund transfers?
\_ Isn't using the PayPal bank withdrawal feature free?
\_ Yeah, for personal accounts. I'm wondering if there
is an alternative service that is also free.
\_ Given their behavior with people's credit card accounts,
I would not give paypal that kind of access to my non-credit
                 accounts but YMMV.

\_ "Master and Slave computer labels offensive"
\_ The complaint was actually about some videotape machine, but
the policy applies to all equipment.
\_ Intel knew this back in 1995, that's why the PCI specs have no
master/slave labels. Instead they use "arbitor" and other terms.
\_ yeah, LA has been getting a lot of flak over this but the truth
is if someone come up with the term master/slave for a computer
system today, he probably would be politely asked to come up
with a new term. I actually CAN see why some people would like
the term changed. They aren't storming the barricades made
about it either. Stupid geeks getting all frumphy over someone
else getting frumphy is always good for an eye roll.

        \_ procmail?
            \_ dude, that's like hard -n- stuff.
\_ redirect postmaster to /dev/null. who reads postmaster anymore?
\_ I was doing that actually, but at some point my ISP dropped my
PTR record and i didn't find out about it for a while.
During that time it resulted in bounced mails from places that
                didn't like that i didn't have one. :( I need to know if I'm
getting blacklisted for some reason i can fix, but I don't
want to have to sift through all the bounced spam :( Looks
like procmail is the answer, but I don't relish diving in.
