3/14 Are the fields stack-allocated structs initialized to zero? (C++) \_ Nope. But, like C, you can always write MyStruct s = { }; to declare a struct s and zero-initialize it. --mconst \_ What is the difference between this and: memset(struct,'\0',sizeof(struct)) I usually use memset, but I'd rather use something else that involves less typing if it accomplishes the same thing. \_ There's no difference at all, unless you're on a weird machine that doesn't store zero values as all bits zero; gcc compiles the two to the exact same code. --mconst \_ Thanks. \_ it's not so weird for null pointers to be non-zero, is it? uncommon, but not unheard of. \_ I believe memset will work with heap-alloc'ed memory but "= { }" will not. man bzero, it's a little bit less typing. \_ I'd use bzero, but it is deprecated on Linux and other platforms. \_ of course the "= { }" won't work on heap allocated memory, because you can only initialize structures like that when they're declared, and declared variables are stored on the stack. \_ thanks, glad to know this now. |

3/14 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A25844-2003Mar14.html It's true. Why can't he say it without them coming down on him and ruining his career? What are they afraid of? \_ Compare and contrast to how Lott was treated. Moran is a Dem. \_ Lott lost his position of leadership but kept his seat. Now Moran has lost his position of leadership but kept his seat. He got lambasted in the "What the hell were they thinking" section on "Washington Week" on PBS yesterday, just like Lott. What's the contrast, aside from Lott having a cooler position to lose? \_ The difference is what Lott said was vicious and evil. What Moran said is simply the truth they're trying to suppress. \_ Lott was simply giving accolades to Strom Thurmond. His comment was completely neutral - but the race baiters, apparently like yourself, took it an ran for political gain. Nevertheless, I was glad to see him go because he was completely ineffectual. he was completely ineffectual. Let's not forget the South was solidly democrat until the past two decades. Thurmond was a democrat when he ran for President. \_ Either way, the parties should throw out people like Lott. These racist bigots were first hiding out in the Democratic party, now the Republican party. It's time that neither party should support idiots like this. \_ Yeah, I mean look at all the shit that Byrd gets away with. \_ Lott is now currently chair on a pretty fucking scary committee having to do with security and homeland defense policies. Can we say Jim Crow II? Well i guess southern white guys must be happy now. \_ Yeah, this will happen. Just as likely as time travel. Can we look FORWARD and not backwards without making stupid comparisons? \_ Aren't they happy after they fingerbang their sister? \_ But now they're more righteous when they do it. \_ Didn't a Republican Senator say this very same thing last week? \_ no. \_ most likely, but he didn't happen to be on camera at the time. |

3/15 I have an aic7xxx scsi card for my scanner and an ide cd burner that is using ide-scsi emulation in linux. unfortunately, both of these devices attach themselves to scsi host 0. Whichever one I use fist works at the expense of the other. I can not find out a way to specify host0 for one and host1 for the other. Any suggestions for a way to specify which scsi host#? Also, I don't load the aic7xxx module at bootup, because I don't use it everyday. (I'd prefer the aic7xxx host to be scsi1). Thanks. |

3/15 Very interesting program from http://Marketplace.org It explains why USA is sure Iraq has the know-how to build Atomic weapons link:csua.org/u/ad5 \_ "They fucking looked at the receipts, duh." - B. Hicks. (valid then, valid quote now). \_ Virus warning. The uninfected original is at http://marketplace.org, but it uses real player, which will try to put advert loaders in your startup. \_ what is the name of the virus? how do i know i got infected or not? (norton antivirus already running) \_ Iraq has blood agents and nerve gas, but isn't close to nukes. \_ Dead is dead, thanks. And how do *you* know they aren't close to nukes? And even if true, you know why? Because the damned jews killed their french built nuke plant. that's why. \_ Arthur Kent, AKA the Skud Stud from GW1, has a History Channel special on this coming up soon. \_ Any relation to Clark Kent, AKA the Man of Steel? Quest for Peace anyone? Maybe a quality respirator instead? |

3/15 http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/03/14/moran.remarks "If it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war with Iraq, we would not be doing this." \_ is it really necessary to have two motd threads on this topic at the same time? \_ Jews should fight their own wars, it's nearly time the started. \_ yes, because the next point is "Did anyone see the dateline on NBC where they talked about how ashcroft && his zionistic party have been trying to get a "friendly" white house adminis. since the early 80s? And now we have to take an in increasing "fight israel's wars for them" stance as part of what is now called the "Bush Doctrine". \_ Jews should fight their own wars, it's nearly time they started. and without any "aid". \_ J00s 0wn0rz j00! \_ that aid is the only thing keeping israel from crushing all their neighbors who want them dead. they did just fine without any aid for several decades. as a pro-zionist i think they'd be better off not selling their souls for american money and doing unto their enemies what their enemies have been trying to do to them for more than half a century. \_ Isreal was the focal point for the Cold War in the Middle East. All of the conflicts were, at least in part, proxy wars between the US and the Soviets. \_ ok, ok, let's just get it over with (again): we all hate jews. there. doesn't that feel better to just say it? i know i feel better about hating jews now. you should too. \_ People forget that France did aid the fledgling state of Israel with fighter jets first. \_ I don't think Israel would go on a crushing rampage if we cut all our aid to them. Their economy right now is a bunch of crap and they have a couple of million impoverishered Palestinians with little to no economic future camped right next door. |
