8/18 When I use lp in my company it does duplex automatically. How do I
disable duplex mode in lp? I've already RTFM, thanks.
\_ Ask your sysadmin or post here the details of your printing
system configuration including the OS name and version, print server
type and configuration, printer model name, any additional third
party or vendor drivers in use, etc.
\_ -osimplex workes for me. It was also the first link on google for
the search "lp single sided." Please use google and the manual
           next time. --twohey

\_ If you file is a PS file that comes from enscript, you can try
           "-DDuplex:false" in enscript. Otherwise I don't know.

8/19 best place to buy Hazard insurance for bay area home?
        \_ AAA? It's non-profit.
\_ In my experience, AAA rates suck. AllState or StateFarm are both
good, and will give you discounts if you insure both the house cna
              car from them.
\_ AAA also gave such a discount to me. Another things is that
the longer you have an auto insurance with AAA, the bigger
discount you get on the auto insurance, since they apply prior
year's surplus money back to members who have the longest
insurance history first. Don't know if the same happens to
                 home insurance.
                 \_ Statefarm returns money.
\_ A few years ago AAA was one of the lowest-payout firms. If you
were insured with AAA, or got hit by someone with AAA, you could
expect a legal fight before you saw any money.
                \_ Hence, The People's Lawyer.
\_ Now back to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

8/18 Middle East Forum - policy analysis
        http://www.meforum.org
\_ Well written. Pro-Isreali, in a thoughtful way. -soda liberal
\_ Read the discussions after the articles.
\_ Does being liberal automatically mean not pro-Israeli? Is
that a part of being on the left? Is that a plank in the
              Dem platform?
\_ One could only hope, but the truth is quite the opposite.
\_ No you are very confused. liberals are ~anti-Isreal
liberal has little to nothing to do with Dems./Repubs.
\_ E.g., Dem. Sen. Leiberman, Feinstein & Boxer are
about the most hardline Israel supporters in the
Senate. It helps that all three are Jewish.
\_ But I thought Republicans are conservatives and Democrats
                    are liberals.
\_ Return thee to thy slimy cave without cookie, thou
                       pitiful troll!

8/19 I looked at UCB's CS grad school application. There's a MS box that
you can check. What's up with the discussion that assumes that there
        is no MS program?
\_ because the ppl who post here are for the majority, sysadmins with
maybe a bachelors.. in cog sci.
\_ That's interdisciplinary studies to you, nerd boy. And we earn
a lot more than you ever will :-) -John
\_ Yes and the discussion a few days ago was about not having a
special 1-yr MS program for EECS grads. See
              ~mehlhaff/tmp/motd,v.
\_ The discussion is about not having a UCB MS CS program,
and most posters assumed that non existed, period.
\_ work on your reading comprehension, dumbass.
\_ At least us cogsci sysadmins can read and know how to spell those
really long words like "people". And I doubt you'd pass half the
cogsci courses. I took both cogsci and cs. Some of the cogsci
courses were much harder than anything I saw in cs.
\_ I guess you were rejected from cs...
\_ Na, too busy getting laid and having fun in college
                      to bother thinking about it!
\_ No. I never applied to CS. I didn't like it. Cogsci
was more interesting although my final gpa would've been
higher if I finished up in CS.
\_ Maybe you were in the wrong major if you thought CogSci was
                 harder than CompSci.
\_ CS was boring. Just lots of time. Nothing particularly
intellectual about it. Several Cogsci classes were quite
difficult. It was possible to go through Cogsci and skip
over a lot of the harder classes which is probably what
your friends are doing but I didn't. The harder classes
were the ones worth taking. Since I had no grad school
plans my gpa didn't matter. Thanks.
