4/21 I'm moving so I want to change my cable service. Which of the premium
channels (HBO, Showtime, Cinemax) offers the most movies of erotic
nature, ie. rated TVMA or with advisories SC (strong sexual content)
or N (nudity)? Can't afford pay-per-view channels, sorry. Thanks.
\_ looking for some Ho-time or Skinimax, Mr. Troll?
\_ I currently subscribe to HBO and SHO. SHO seems to be better
than HBO, but it might just be my timing. Haven't had MAX
before, so I wonder how it compares to the other two. I'm

Playstation? Dreamcast? N64? -dunno much about games
        \_ what? a CSUA chick has a b.f.? that's gnu.
\_ playstation 2. if you dont have the guts and the cash, then
           regular playstation.
                \_ PS2 = faster/more bits than PS?
\_ Yes, plus it doubles as a cheap DVD player.
Unfortunately, they're only sold in Japan right now.
\_ "cheap"? Only relative to DVD player prices in JPN
And there's only about 10 released games --oj
\_ Which type of games does he like? How much are you planning
to spend? I have all of the above mentioned consoles, email
             me for an opinion. --oj
             \_ Bah.
                N64 if he's a 12 year old
Dreamcast if he likes collecting amigas and other orphaned
Playstation if he's a reasonably intelligent person who
                likes adult-quality games.
                \_ "adult-quality games"? Isn't that an oxymoron? If you're
an adult you wouldn't be dicking around with games. Only
dateless l0sers have time for that crap. The only games
I play are of the sexual kind. --dateless l0ser
\_ I have an N64 collecting dust (last great game was Zelda64, and
before that, WaveRace64, which came out when N64 launched). I also
have a Dreamcast which already has more quality games than N64.
Currently playing Resident Evil: Code Veronica & Dead or Alive2.
I already preordered my Playstation2 coming September / October.
           \_ Didn't the PS2 come out more than a year ago? I have a
friend who got one (in the US) at least that long ago.
Why do you need to pre-order a PS2?
\_ Get him a stock ticker, that way you can ensure he grows up
to be a responsible adult. Get him a game console if you
want him to be a miserable failure and a poor husband you
can't provide for you or your future kids.
\_ Speak for yourself. We have N64, PS, & DC, plus
$200k annual income and stock options worth around $750k.

4/22 How many of you were dotcom paper millionaires a couple of years ago?
And what company was it? Curious.
\_ We were too big and too proud, and the hubris got us.
\_ Does paper millionaires count vested options or exercised-and-held
\_ shut the fuck up you banal fucks
                   \_ Bitter?
\_ I was. And our company was featured on <DEAD><DEAD>
\_ And how much of it were did you end up with?
\_ Less than a thousand. It will almost cost me more
to unlock and sell the shares than what it's worth.
\_ The Onion blew it with this one. Home buying isn't about being
a suburban dork. It's about economic freedom and maturity. Kids
rent, adults buy. Why make someone else rich? Why die poor?
\_ the lame part is when it talks about how you have a 30-year
committment to the mortgage. Unless the renters think they
won't be paying rent 30 years from now... -tom
\_ That's just one of many lame parts. It's endless.
\_ My rent is 1/3rd what a house would run, and I share a 3 bed
place in a nice part of SF (with one other). Renting is for
those who don't want to commit to the area for 5 years.
\_ In 5 years your new rent will be higher than my mortgage. You
think about that one for a few minutes. My grandmother's
mortgage was $156/month on her $300k home when she passed. If
she had been renting all that time her rent would've been about
$1750 for the same place/location/house/etc. and eating cat
food without family help. Also your rent is 2/3rds not 1/3rd
because you're *sharing* with 1 other person. I could rent out
half my house and share if I wanted to cut my mortgage expenses
               down. Compare like with like.
\_ Cool, so people who take the Onion's attitude will leave
more houses for the rest of us intelligent people...
                - new homeowner
\_ Nonono, as a new home owner you *want* lots and lots and lots of
housing competition now that *you* made it. You are now in
control of your destiny. You can either upgrade in the same area
later when you have more money when the local market is low or
you can sell when the local market is high and move to another
area where housing is low and cash in mega bucks. Renting is for
suckers and short termers and kids. Buy, buy, buy!
\_ You're a bunch of overpaid spoiled fucks, aren't you. Of COURSE
owning is preferable to renting! What else are you going to do
until you've got the frickin' cash? What housing market do you
              think we're in? Pittsburgh, PA?

Those of us using vi much appreciate it.
\_ emacs and pico doesn't lock the files?
\_ Nope. not by default. in fact, they both make temporary copies
to work on, then overwrite the existing file, ignoring flocks.
\- emacs has a central locking dir but only other emacsen use
it. also emacs will notice that the file changed under you
while you were editing, you the user has to confirm the over
\_ and people always overwrite because they don't want to
retype what they typed; and don't know how to copy what they
have typed and reload the file. I get the same problem with
