2/12 Its been asked before and will probably be asked again... Where is a good place to get your car washed in the Berkeley area? (not Touchless on Oxford) \_ bucket. hoser. sponge. \_ that would work... but 1-2 hours of my time is worth ~$10 to me. additionally, I don't have one of those high power vacuums with attachments. \_ while I see your points, it won't take 1-2 hours and if you do it yourself, it'll be much better. Then again you need space and time. If you have a girlfriend you could have her help you and take photographs to post on the web. |

2/12 My VAIO laptop seems to be hosed. It runs fine on AC power, but randomly shuts off when running on battery power. I'm pretty sure it's not the battery because this behavior has been repeated with several different batteries. Does anyone know what might cause this sort of behavior? Does anyone have any experience dealing with Sony support or service centers? It looks seems painful and expensive. Should I just give up now, use the VAIO as a paper weight, and sell one of my kidneys on the black market to fund the purchase of an iBook? |

2/13 Are there any "official" NT books / references on learning the following? - kernel-mode programming in general - kernel-mode device drivers (same thing as above?) - user-mode programming. I've seen a couple good books on kernel-mode drivers, but they don't look like they're published by Micro$oft (because sometimes they say bad things about NT.) Thank you. \_ http://Amazon.com. B&N. Whatever. Same as always. |

2/13 "Jetliner Lust Attracts F-16s". AKA: Don't get busted having sex in the airplane bathroom while coked up on a long flight. http://www.nydailynews.com/2002-02-13/News_and_Views/City_Beat/a-141259.asp \_ bah! i doubt that if the two people involved are of the opposite sex and american citizents they would do anything. \_ So you think this is anti-british discrimination or anti-gay discrimination? I think it's anti-stupid discrimination. \_ i don't think it's any kind of discrimination. i just want to know my chances of being sent to jail for exale the crack smoke. -sky screwing my wife in the bathroom on the plane, and i asess thosw chances as being close to zero. \_ sure but try going to the b/r 5 times together while coked up during a high security alert. \_ How did they smoke pot in the restroom and not set off the smoke detector? \_ Not pot. Crack. \_ You stick your head in the toliet and flush everytime you exale the crack smoke. -sky "i've been banned from a major airline" |

2/13 Who will win best actor? \_ russell \_ p. nunez. \_ if only! I'm weary of this hollywood navel-gazing. -PeterM \_ They need something to keep them busy. \_ don't be so crabby PeterM. You sound like such a crotchety old man. \_ then perhaps you should stop. \_ does it matter? oscars are nothing more than self-pats-on-the back and do not reflect anything but the liberal masses of the academy \_ Are we that peeved that Arnie never won an Oscar? \_ You and Rush Limbaugh are soooo cool. \_ Hey Genius, you trying to say Hollywood is anything but 99.9% liberal? You're on the same planet with the rest of us, right? The one where Hollywood is Left and proud of it? \_ Yes, I am saying that. How many former Hollywood movie stars turned Republican politicians? I can think of four without even trying hard, starting with the Right's Darling Boy, Reagan. Turn off that Limbaugh and read something a bit more balanced, like maybe the Wall Street Journal. \_ WSJ balanced? Propagandist of the capitalist world? HA! \_ No, it's more than that. It's an indicator of which actresses / actors have been sleeping around with the judges the most. \_ what a radical opinion...wow, you must be intelligent. \_ Stating the obvious doesn't make the poster stupid. \_ yeah those damn liberals gave a bunch of oscars to that damn communist propaganda "schindler's list" \_ WTF are you smoking? What does SL have to do with *anything*? You're aware the Nazi's were... oh ya know what? Just nevermind. Go find a history book. Sheesh. |

2/13 Each time I login, I would like to see my "Last Login" info, but not the motd. How do I do this? \_ Edit the .login file in your home directory. If you still see the motd scroll by, create a file called ".hushlogin" in your homedir (`touch .hushlogin` will do). \_ Right, but with .hushlogin I don't see my "Last Login" I can't seem to quell only the motd. Can I set something like "no-motd" in my .login? Also, my "Last Login" info gets shoved off the screen before I get a chance to read it. Why is that? Why is that? -brett (thanks & sorry) \_ Sign your name and make ur .login public so we can help you. Perhaps you have a 'clear' command in it. \_ Okay. |

2/13 Is it possible to install NT Checked build on a machine that's already running the Free build? When I tried installing it keeps on blue-screening after it asks me to reboot to continue installation. Thx. \_ Apparently not. -sky |
