2/4 chialea did you get anything from gradsk00l$ yet? have you applied for FAFSA? \_ Unlike some people I wouldn't instantly blast anything off the motd I thought didn't belong but I am curious: why do some people post personal questions to the motd that are better asked in email? \_ My theory is its unrequited lust. Notice they're mostly for the women. \_ Hell, it seems to be mostly for chialea in recent times. \_ Well ok it's fanboy lust but posting anonymously isn't going to get them a date or even let the woman know which geekboy is interested. It seems pointless. It's not important. Just curious. --OP \_ who could possibly be intereested in chialea? \_ The manliest of men -chialea #1 fan #1 fan \_ Hi geordan. \_ Wait, am I manly or am I a meta-stalker? Or both? -geordan \_ She seems to enjoy the attention, so I guess that encourages things. \_ I think to preserve anonomity because (s)he is too embarrassed to be identified. \_ I think he's cool -chialea #1 fan #1 fan \_ no, I don't think any of them have told anyone anything yet (I hope!), and I'm not eligable for FAFSA. -chialea \_ Due to parent's zip code, right? \_ why not? criminal history? illegal alien? \_ I believe there are income requirements. I'm going for fellowships instead. -chialea \_ just curious, what ARE the requirements? \_ yikes! whatever happened to chialea's old picture on the web? |

2/3 i have the same directory twice in my PATH (the first and last entry). how can i remove the first entry? \_ set your path to null, then reset it. \- this is a pretty strightfwd shell programming exercise. the exact syntax depends on the shell. you can google for "uniqpath" although that may not work for you. ok tnx --psb \_ PATH=`echo $PATH|perl -lapF: -e'$_=join":",grep{!$p{$_}++}@F'` (also maintains the order) --dbushong |

2/3 how do I watch superbowl ads online? http://adcritic.com went under. \_ Why would you want to do that? \_ Cuz that's the only reason yoo watch the superbowl, nutmeg. \_ I see. I guess I had no reason to watch then. \_ http://ifilm.com ? \_ <DEAD>www.superbowlcritic.com<DEAD> - tien \_ This costs money! \_ Yeah, that's great! I bet you eat out for lunch every day. |

2/3 I understand reflexive, transitive, and symmetric relationships. But what is anitsymmetry? \_ So symmetry is where aRb implies bRa (where a and b are in some set, and R is a relation). Then antisymmetry is just that if aRb then it is NOT the case that bRa... in other words, aRb and bRa impies a=b. Check Mathworld. - rory http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PartialOrder.html \_ So does that mean antisymmetry implies reflexivity? \_ No. \_ For example, < is anti-symmetric but not reflexive. \_ I always thought antisymmetry means not symmetry!!! \_ Think about the difference between apathy and antipathy. \_ a high school way to think about it is sin[x] in [x, -Pi, Pi] is anti-symmetric, and cos[x] in [x, -Pi, Pi] is symmetric. \_ An alternative is to think about it the right way. \_ antisymmetry is when you buy a house, ring, etc etc and then you get a divorce, pay alimony, lose a house, so on and so forth. -bmg |

2/4 after all is said and done, what the hell was mlife? \_ at&t wireless' new brand. i'm trying to figure out what makes it so different from services readily available. http://www.mlife.com wasn't too helpful. \_ From what I can tell it's that mlife : att wireless as cingular : pacbell wireless. \_ cingular is not just pacbell/sbc fyi \_ A way to confuse wireless with life insurance? http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/56770_mlife02.shtml \_ After spend millions on the superbowl commercial, when I logged on and try to find out what mlife was, the web server was down for the good part of the game. Good work. \_ Maybe the commercial worked too well and attracted too many hits. \_ "That *was* stupid, Bob." \_ NO, you logged on?! Now THEY win... |
