Japanese gang members are amazing. (BTW, the Yamaguchi syndicate is
the most powerful gang in Japan.)
\_ d'oh! and i only get a whack on the shoulder if my gf catches
           me glancing at another woman.
           \_ she needs an axe
\_ she needs to get over it. there's nothing wrong with
a simple "look but dont touch" rule.

11/2 Hi there,
I just wanted to let CSUA know that there will be a Microsoft Tech
talk this friday in 306 Soda from 5-6:30. You can win copies of
Windows XP, Microsoft software, t-shirts, books and other cool
stuff. It's an event sponsored by Microsoft Research to let
students know about the new operating system that was just
        released last week.
        Thanks, Kirsten
\_ isn't this this friday? upcoming friday?
           \_ it's today. in 2 hrs.

11/2 I've recently become interested in computer architechture,
especially how you send data back and forth from memory,
to the CPU, to disk, etc. Can people recommend good books,
or web sites on this subject? Thanks.
\_ Hennessey and Patterson (not the other way around)
\_ What is "Patterson and Hennessey" then?
\_ P&H is the undergraduate "dummy's" guide to computer
architecture used in 61c and 152. H&P is used by
graduate students, 252, and recommended for 152. It's
not as well written as P&H but much more insightful.
Computer Architecture News and Microprocessor reports
are other good references. Reading people's masters
thesis and PhD dissertation is another good way to
learn about more esoteric topics. I recommend reading
Krste Asanovic's "Vector Microprocessor" and Kozyrakis'
IRAM paper (both from Berkeley). -jeff
\_ do you know of a consistent way to get a thesis besides
asking their advisor for a copy? i heard that there was
some central university publisher that bought rights
to all american theses and would sell them to you.
\_ Try "Dissertation Abstracts International" - recent
PhD theses you can get in pdf for free. Older ones you can
get for $40 per hard copy. Go to the department
office for MA theses. The institution will always
keep a hard copy in the library. -fab
\_ I would just go to their web page and d/l the PDF.
              \_ amazon,

11/2 Who is the hot girl in the blue dress in these x10 ads?
\_ Can someone please post again the URL to disable these x10 ads? Thx.
        \_ oh, you mean yermom?

11/2 Anyone crossed the San Mateo Bridge or the Dumbarton Bridge today?
        How's the situation there?
\_ Seemed normal. A couple of CHP cars on either side. Traffic was
           about average for a Friday.
        \_ I was so paranoid this morning that I took 880S -> 237W -> 101N to
go from Hayward to Foster City.
go from Hayward to Foster City to avoid any bridges.
\_ THAT must've sucked. it must have added 1-2 hours to your
morning commute. 880S from Union City to 237 is horrid, tho
              101N should've been ok.
\_ It took me a whole 1.5 hours, but that was because there were
one construction site running a jack-hammer and one accident
on 880S, and two accidents on 101N, all of which caused
moron drivers to slow down and look even though no lanes were
\_ stayed home altogether and will do bart next week. Better safe
                than dead..
                \_ you're a moron.
\_ got laid off this week. No bridges for me. Can't afford the toll.

11/5 help me Soda Motd, you're my only hope: Can i use wild-cards in my
sendmail virtuser table? A doc i'm reading says i can do this:
But it don't work! I know virtusers is working in general because
my one-to-one maps like "jo@todmain jo@forwardomain" work. What
am i doing wrong? (i've tried both using % and neither and that don't
        work either).
\_ Which version of sendmail is it? The ""
           should work ....
\_ You need to enable virtuser_entire_domain in your .mc file. -tom

11/2 Is there any maps web site that works like but
displays maps with a lot more pixels? Even the "Printable Map"
in Yahoo Maps is only 580x400 pixels. Thx.
\_ You could build your own out of the yahoo maps.
